Is be most tempted by the Hana personally. I like the sound of the AT OC9XML that im currently running but it’s by a distance the worst tracking cartridge I’ve had on the table. The Hana by comparison tracked everything. I’m seriously tempted by the MK2 SL.
My two go to carts after a lot of experimenting have ended up being Grado and Hana, and honestly my first reaction, to the point of having it in the cart was the Hana SL Mono. But, I decided to let the choice simmer a bit, and I think the biggest reason I keep going back to the AT is the price point to be honest.
When this all started, my intention was a $500ish Turntable with a MM Mono cart to run through my amps phono, cheap and simple. But as I thought about it, and weighed how much I would use the mono system and what would happen if the "itch" for it started to dwindle, what would I be left with, I ended up moving up the chain on the TT and pre enough to make it a "nice" back up system, finding the EAT for $700 was a bonus.
So the AT is more of a "get me going" cart with at least, positive reviews of it. At $300 I can see how the mono thing works out, and if it becomes the mainstay that I'm predicting it will be, knowing me, I'll move up to a "better" cart in the future. Plus, I've only ever had the Audio Techinca VM95ML as far as AT goes and I enjoyed that, expanding on the AT experience
The cart being the easiest part of the puzzle to change/replace
