Political Discussion

Update from AZ from a live interview with an elected official on NBC.

Yesterday they had a little over 400,000 votes left to count.

They only got through about 100,000 of those yesterday. So that being said, if they get through another 100,000 votes today. That means tomorrow there will still be 200,000 votes to count. AZ is looking like it is not going to be called before the weekend.

I must admit, I don't usually follow the US election this closely but does it always take this long to count the votes and declare states?

Only the states that have these stupid rules that don't allow counting of absentee/mail-in votes until after polls close. Every state that allowed counting before election day is already done and called.

These stupid rules were put in place by Republican legislatures in these states but they're the ones complaining about it taking time smh

The United States of America took a big hit on the global stage on election night.
Presented with an opportunity for a wholesale rejection of a highly divisive, race-baiting, xenophobic, media-hating, anti-science, lying, juvenile incumbent, a sizable swath of America's voters decided to take a pass and pull the lever for Donald Trump, and that speaks volumes about who we are as a nation.
