Portland / Oregon

Going to crater lake this week. Anyone have anything about it I should know? Any restaraunts or things to check out in the area around it? I know about diamond lake.

Hope everyone's doing okay right now. The sky is terrifying and the air smells like death. If anyone needs anything, I can see what I can do.

Took TriMet into Portland and I regret it. Record shopping could've waited another day.
Although I live in Beaverton, the conditions aren't any more ideal here.

I'm definitely grateful to be a decent ways away from the fires (Central Oregon), but man this air is rough. AQI has been in the 500s for the past 48 hours, and I haven't stepped outside without gagging in days. Hope you guys are staying safe! I hear the smoke is supposed to subside in many parts of the state by Tuesday, but make sure you're prepared regardless just in case.

Also I heard a tourist yesterday complaining about the smoke "ruining the family vacation" and I've never been so close to yelling at a random stranger in my damn life y'all

You must be a literal saint if that person is still walking on unbroken legs

All of our local Dutch Bros shut down due to the AQI being 400+, and some idiot in the Facebook comments was basically calling the smoke a hoax. SMH

Meanwhile...

what do you mean? it's pretty uh, "blue" to the west...
The cities might be liberal, but I don't have to drive more than twenty minutes to see Trump and Blue Lives Matter flags. Heck, I was on the 5 not minutes north of Vancouver, and someone had giant Confederate flags flying along the highway. Oregon was basically founded as an all-white state and has a very racist history. One of the biggest internal conflicts I deal with living here is the fact that a lot of the liberal, "open-minded" folks here don't actually have to face many cultural or ethnic divides; it's a lot easier for people to say they welcome everyone when everyone happens to look/think just like them.

yeah, i know all that but it still doesn't really clarify the statement specifically about "mindset discrepancy" in the suburbs. genuinely curious what he meant.

lately every time i see that piece of shit "jefferson davis memorial" along I5 in clark county, wa it's been vandalized. those confederate flag wavers sure are resilient though as it keeps going back up.

The AQI in Beaverton has now fallen back to much safer levels, from 270 (very unhealthy) on Wednesday -> 70 (moderate) today. Should be under 50 by the end of my workday today!

Not sure what your source is, but I'm still seeing 150+ for Beaverton (same goes for SW Portland, where I live). It does seem to be improving, so let's hope for better air soon.

Long story short. I have a 65" LG OLED C9 that is in the process of getting a part fixed. It will be fixed sometime this week or in December (leaving town otherwise it would be sooner). I'm going to be selling it after it's fixed. If anyone here is interested let me know. I'm asking people I know and here before I post it on craigslist/facebook.
