The Lorde is definitely a big we'll see. Not that she was huge on the variations on the last two albums so maybe she won't, but the vinyl world has changed since Melodrama as has she.

If chocolate brown is the only non-webstore U.S. Variant, it's a fascinating business decision.

I have actually seen this trend with several releases this year with records I wanted.

There are amazing UK and Australian colored variants. But the United States keep getting one bland Indie Exclusive pressing or only standard black outside of ordering directly through the artist.

I do wonder if a lot of it has to do with their being no meaningful pressing plants in the United States. And many US major releases are now being sent to europe to press since COVID shut down US plants. While the US plants have reopened, plants in Europe have a much higher capacity and are cheaper so many labels are staying with them.
