Very mean and unfair of New Berry Comics and Jack Bug to make me think for half a second that we were getting a repress of the best late-period Counting Crows album.

Pay attention sometime today from Numero Group and the band Karate. I think they are finally announcing their vinyl reissues. They already released all their stuff on Bandcamp but they were also working on physical and they dropped hints that today they were announcing something. Today being 06/30/2021. I'm writing this at 12:13 AM because I can't sleep...

RIYL: 90's Emo / Slowcore, The Promise Ring, Boys Life, Evergreen, Braid, etc. (ya know, all the good stuff.)

Yes, the increased number of variants has made me far less interested in acquiring any variant. I was asking for confirmation because this aspect of the Big Red Machine rollout seems like a new gimmick – doing one variant pressing of just 80 discs – even within the exploding variant climate, so it was surprising. And indeed, there has since been confirmation from their CS that the green splatter was limited to 80 total copies, 40 in US, and 40 in UK.

I didn't even preorder this, since I need to hear more music to make my decision.

The variant explosion has been a real money saver for me, since it has seriously decreased my FOMO and preordering. It does make me feel bad for completionists, as it seems to prey on them.

I think this is…something that artists will need to consider. I’ve moved to a similar stance where unless it’s a stone cold lock of an artist or the other bells and whistles are there I wait for release or later. The variant mania pre order is a lot when the only differences are colorways and print runs.

Granted, I feel like if there's enough of us, the next variant run is going to be alternate covers (hi Bleachers) or alternate add ins (signed, posters, stickers, a little piece of the drummer's soul, etc.)
