I’m not griping about shipping. However $30 is pretty much my cut off for a single lp (nonaudiophile). Most places charge a little more for shipping than they get charged. I’m fine with that.
$10 for shipping is not okay. Unless it is gonna be something above media mail - if you don’t specify, I’m not paying it. Furthermore, if a shop can charge $24.99 for it, then she can too. She’s probably selling her comps.
Tangent aside, shipping is part of the price. I have my cut off point. Shipping is taken into that cut off point.
No I know you weren’t. Replying to your post wasn’t aimed at you more an entry point to the larger conversation.
I suppose that media Mail not existing over here makes that conversation less charged I can also understand smaller suppliers and artists refusing to ship below recorded to protect themselves. Hell I do that on cogs myself for that reason.
Charging more than a local record store for the same product isn’t cool and that’s a fair gripe. As with you shipping does come into my overall cost calculation, unless it’s something that I can’t get in another way, and it often leads to me buying from my local record store instead.
A part of me feels that when I talk to people in a wider sense that Amazon Prime has duped people into thing that delivery costs nothing when the reality is that it always does, just in that instance it’s not me or Amazon paying, it’s the shockingly exploited delivery drivers.
