Yeah, it’s tough to get excited about the same records being reissued ad nauseam while the majority of new releases you have to pre-order 8 months in advance pay $40 (plus shipping) to have it arrived warped, or with seam splits. I have found myself buying much more stuff locally since my LRS opened back up. It has helped me spend less and part of the fun for me when I started collecting was digging through stacks at record stores. I’ve also started collecting cassettes because a good portion of those can be had for under a couple bucks.I’m not sure what happened these last few weeks/months/years, but I finally feel burned out on this goofy hobby that just gets more and more expensive and silly every day. I think I’m out, you guys
Definitely more expensive, and more silly, by the day, as this very thread makes as clear as still water. BUT I personally believe it would be a shame to give up on vinyl altogether. Truth is there still are a ton of records (many of them used) available at locals, across the country and (I assume) world, at prices that are much more reasonable than those we are seeing tied to current releases with FOMO release/marketing strategies. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water!I’m not sure what happened these last few weeks/months/years, but I finally feel burned out on this goofy hobby that just gets more and more expensive and silly every day. Same here; storage space has become limited so I have stopped buying LPs blind or based on a song I listened to and will try to focus my collection on stuff I know I want, like completing my Radiohead/Tom Waits/Joni Mitchell collections or current artists I'm digging, etc.I’m planning and hoping to do a nice purge of the collection soon. After that I’d like to be more selective on what I buy on vinyl. I’m in no way going to start buying cassettes, but I could see myself shifting back to CDs a little more. Vinyl is definitely the more fun format, but in the end it’s about the music.
I still don’t stream and regularly download HQ MP3s from a peer-to-peer site for all my digital music.Napster had it right.

Right! I think between you and @dansomeone generous sales and @imtheocean very kind PIF, I practically doubled my tape collection this over the past few months. Those tapes behind the blanks look familiar

As far as CDs, we don't even have a player anymore. Between my wife and I we have two large totes of CDs and neither of our cars or our house has something to play them on. We don't have a DVD player either, or a game system, and we only own one TV and it's currently broken, so we are probably in the minority on household electronics.
