Sounds as though you may already be, but if not, I definitely recommend signing up for the KRS email newsletter. It's still a crapshoot, of course...I was just lucky enough to check email at the right time. It looks as though someone posted it to reddit, and unsurprisingly, it was gone shortly thereafter...

His debut solo album, Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt is by far his best. His collab album with Omar Rodriguez-Lopez is top notch as well

even though that was the first solo record I heard from him I don't think I'd recommend that as a starting point .. but god do I love some of the stuff on there, I just think it could also be a real turn off as a first listen, where say something like the DC EP is an easy, breezy, super easy to digest, 4 song EP

I know a lot of people are hyping this album and I just got an email from Monster saying they have all versions on sale, including the deluxe 4 LP for $39.99. Don't know how good of a deal that is, but I've had good experiences with this store.

This is a gut-wrenchingly tough listen, though. IIRC, he was strung out on heroin during this stretch, and the desperation of wanting to leave that mindset is painfully on display. I believe his friend, River Phoenix, had just died of an OD as well. I'm so glad he made it out of that dark place because we were very close to losing him as well.
With that said, I think my personal favorite of his is The Empyrean.
