I picked one up when she did an event here in Seattle. During a brief Q&A section, someone in the crowd asked, with complete seriousness, if she'd ever faced any obstacles being a woman in the music industry.

I don't even think you really need to know who she is to have more sense than that. They went to an event promoting a book called "Girl In A Band" and asked about what it's been like being a girl in a band. The whole crowd was pretty much like, "Are you going to read the fucking book?"

People like to raise their hands just to ask questions, when they really don't have anything of value to ask. Someone always does it, but this time it seemed particularly absurd

I mean to be fair, it could just be a poorly worded way of asking what obstacles she’s faced and how she overcame them. Not everyone is eloquent in their thought and speech.
