Pre-Order Thread

My walmart rhcp shipped. Since it's not blue and orange and it apperently isn't a good sounding pressing i'm going to return it. anyone know the process with walmart?

It was simple to return but they take forever to process refunds. You can have them arrange a Fed Ex pickup or return it to the store.

Edit: Ha! Literally just got an email saying my refund was processed after mailing it back last week. The Walmart overlords bust me watching.

I've had bad luck shipping back with them because even though it's supposed to register as soon as you drop it off at FedEx it doesn't always register in their system. Then you've got to go through all sorts of hoops with their CS to get a refund. Drove me nuts and took months each time. So I always return to the store. But last time the lady at the CS counter messed it up and couldn't refund to my credit card, so she put it on an e-gift card that added the money immediately back to my Walmart account.

Yeah. The refund is a little shady. The email said they issue the refund as soon as the carrier has it but when I logged into the website it said it would be issue within 3 weeks of the carrier picking it up. I'm not sure why it's so hard for them to issue a refund. Amazon does it immediately.

I think it should be noted that those Sylvan Esso pre-orders dont ship until February 2023.

I think I'll just stream it for the next 6 months and see if I need to own this on vinyl in 2023.

Maybe it's just me, but SE is slowly becoming a streaming-only band for me. Much of their stuff feels non-essential.

I can see that.

I've grown tired of all these pre-orders that have delivery dates that are 6 to 12 months out. Just seems like I am providing them with a short-term, interest free loan.

On the other hand, it does allow ample time to stream an album and then cancel the vinyl pre-order if the album is mediocre (or complete shit).

If you buy into the story on their label website, they allude to recording, mixing, mastering within the last 6 months. Between touring, other music projects and pressing plant capacity, I'm not surprised we have to wait for the vinyl. Not the ideal, but whatevs.

At the very least it gives me time to decide if/where I'll purchase the record, instead of jumping on the FOMO train.
