Pre-Order Thread

@Lee Newman and @Joe Mac throwing the 😡 at each other today.

To be honest I’m not sure I see the point of a 3 sided 33 and 4 sided 45 being available. Unless the label are worried about buyers that can’t play 45s then would seem to make sense that the audiophile 45 would be the standard edition? (Not looked to see if there’s a big price differential)
It's almost a $20 price difference between the green and clear variants. I like caroline rose but but don't want to spend $45 on a single album especially when I like neon green better than clear anyways. I'm sure the other 45 rpm variant is nice but not worth spending almost $20 extra.

Oh, agreed. I'm just not convinced there's a need for two versions, or for the audiophile version to be so much more expensive. I've still not gotten around to getting the last CR album!

I don't see the need to spend the extra money for the clear variant. The only artist I'd consider spending the extra money for a audiophile pressing is weyes blood as she's my favorite artist. I wonder why the 4th side isn't used for the green variant.

The 4th side likely isn't used in the green 33rpm because at a lower rpm you could spread the album over 3 sides, whereas you need more groove space at 45rpm, therefore using all four sides.

Honestly, I’m irrationally irritated by this - seeing as both are double LPs I don’t see why they standard version couldn’t have been 45rpm at the price of the 33 - it’s the same amount of plastic! But then is it that different to multiple colour variants?

I think they are just trying to charge extra money for the album. I think the better audio quality would be nice but $20 extra is too much. If someone played me both versions I probably wouldn't be able to tell them apart. Honestly the audiophile version is nothing a gimmick and an excuse for the label to charge $20 extra for the album.

Good to see a Bottle Rockets record getting pressed. Hopefully will see this one around other places.

Cheaper here:

Such a great St Louis band; they were good friends with Uncle Tupelo and share a similar vibe

Knew there'd be a better spot, thanks! One of my faves.

Anyone here from the Austin area and can comment on what's happening with Mondo customer service (i.e. lack of any response, updates, communication of any kind) regarding pre-ordered LPs and other items? I know they sold to Funko, but assumed their fulfillment area was still in Austin. Thanks in advance.

I see your points but I'm not irritated by this, since they have given the customer a choice, although that choice includes an implicit promise that needs to be fulfilled, that being a better sound quality for the 45RPM audiophile version as a tradeoff for a customer paying more money. If they come through with this promise, then I don't think it's a gimmick, but if the 45rpm doesn't have better sound quality, then, yeah, you could definitely call it a gimmick. Time will tell with customer reviews.

All this is moot for me anyway, since I'm not buying either record, as I wrote in my initial reaction to this release a few pages back. But I also wrote that I'd be fine with this 33/45 option being a new trend, since there are a handful of artists who I would prefer buying an audiophile version if the option existed - and the 45 did have a better sound quality.

This is about the Caroline Rose release of two versions (33rpm and 45rpm) of her new record, if that got lost in the mix for others.

I really liked her first album and the Scout EP. The single for this album sounds a lot like an extension of the Baby album.

Didn’t realize she was a kid of actors.

Finnerty was born to Lebanese-American actress Kathy Najimy and American actor Dan Finnerty. She was named after her maternal grandmother, Samia Najimy (née Massery; 1928–2015), who is of Lebanese origin.[2][4][5] She attended York Preparatory School,[6] and studied at The New School.[7][8]

Streaming this. Sounds good. Not a preorder but I missed it until today. Signed vinyl still available.
