Pre-Order Thread

I have an adult friend that does this earnestly. Very weird.
yea--weirds me out.

not sure if anybody watches the show Breeders on FX, but there's a young kid on it who calls all adults by their first names and its simultaneously hilarious and very creepy. there's an episode where they think the kid is dealing drugs but he just carries around varieties of loose tea in baggies to try with his friends 😂

"Sir" always works bc you can also say it ironically.

I used to have this problem with my friends' parents when I was a kid. I've known you since I was 5, so "Mrs. Donahue" feels too formal, but I'm 11 and I'm not the type to test boundaries by saying "Katrina, may I have some juice?" Mostly because I couldn't imagine any of my friends addressing MY mom by first name.

My strategy was almost always just to wait until I had made eye contact so there was no ambiguity about who I was addressing, and then speak.
I do use sir but it doesn’t really feel like a name…

I’d like to think if someone was that involved with my family that they’d married a child that they could use my first name? Anything else would feel weird for a variety of reasons.

If anyone ever calls me sir then I’d feel I’d failed at life.

My 5-year-old called me Sir once and I damn near sent him to his room for it!
