the "new version" appeared on the og press CD U.S. release

the og version is technically the demo version which i believe was released as a CD bonus track in the U.K.

Bluegrass fans...I haven't seen anyone mention the upcoming release from Mighty Poplar.

Mighty Poplar features Andrew Marlin (Watchhouse and Mandolin Orange) on mandolin and vocals, and also has members of the Punch Brothers, Billy Strings and Leftover Salmon. Both of the singles sound great. LP out 3/31.

For sure have not heard this before today . I’m going to dig through my cds tomorrow to confirm or deny Mandela effect.

Update : it looks like I had one of first copies of the cd which contains a demo version (according to discogs). I just checked my ripped digital copy and it’s run time is longer too. Discogs listing of said copy: Finch - What It Is To Burn
Sorry for hijacking this thread, but at least I know I’m not crazy. To bring it full circle, I’m going to pass on this pressing bc this title track is ingrained in my brain this way and I don’t care for the new version even though slightly different.

man, I haven't thought about this Finch album in so long, but I had that "Ender" song on repeat back in high school. "AND HEEREEE WE ARE...TO SIIIIIIIING YOU A SOOO-OOOONGG". I loved how it spent nearly 5 minutes just building up to that.
