Pre-Order Thread

In my experience, the Pacific Breeze compilations of Japanese city pop/boogie have questionable QC. Side one of the first volume has an entire rotation of whooshing (went through three copies, gave up), and some of the other sides across the series have clicks/pops for a handful of rotations. The third volume is the best overall on the QC end, but still dodgy.

Ultimately, it has driven me to find individual albums in the genre that are featured on the compilations. Or better yet, taking a chance on a few that are fairly affordable in the genre primarily on the strength of the cover art alone.

If you think the vinyl has QC issues... one of the cassettes I received for vol 1 or 2 (don't remember which) was completely blank on one side

I’ll be digging through the tapeheads forums if anyone needs me:
Just started collecting tapes myself! Is there any way to see what albums will be releasing on cassette?

Catherine Wheel represses coming:

After seeing this I made an inquiry with Bullmoose to see about getting these Catherine Wheel represses stateside. They got back to me, and have them up for preorder now. I haven't compared pricing yet, but I'm guessing you'd save a bit on shipping with these preorders, which is why I asked. But very important to keep in mind: when they replied, they said you can put in a preorder, and they won't charge until they ship, BUT, their distro people said they can't guarantee they'd be able to provide them. So you'll want to order directly and pay the UK shipping if you want to guarantee your order.

I really wanna know if they remastered and cut new plates for this. Happy Days sounds fantastic from RSD awhile back, but the MOV versions are a little thin and compressed.

Agree that while I'm happy to have the MOV versions, it would be nice to have some high-quality copies. All 3 receive almost verbatim text in the label's announcement - "This re-issue faithfully replicates the original 199X Fontana UK release and is pressed onto high quality 180g vinyl." ...which tells us nothing but reads like no remastering. I was going to leave a question on their social media but nothing about the reissues on IG or FB yet.

I'm curious about the company reissuing this and others. Proper Records from the UK. They are also doing some Fairport Convention and John Martyn albums but they seem quite pricey.

Cheapest I’ve found is from Chalky’s, which somehow ships internationally for free. I’ve purchased from them before without any problems:
