Pre-Order Thread

the best thing about the Taylor versions is that the ones released so far, she's such a more confident vocalist than she was then, so while 99% of these are note for note reproductions, they sound better because she's really come into her voice the past five years or so. I listened to Speak Now (TV) and the original and the original sounds like a kid (which she basically was) and the TV is more, for lack of a better term, fully formed.

revisionist history almost never works out, but these do. for me, they're hands down preferred.

I understand why she is doing it and clearly she is still at the height of her talents. I have seen where older musicians re-recorded their hits later in life due to rights disputes but usually by that point the artists were a bit past their prime sound more like covers than what you were hoping for. With Taylor, I could imagine that some of her new recordings could actually sound better, especially with regards to her earliest albums; I would assume her now having full artistic control and world class production would potentially breath new life into this earlier albums. That being said if someone had been a fan since the beginning and grew up listening to those early albums, I could imagine that the differences might not be something that a fan would enjoy. Then when you get into here later albums where she seemingly already had completely creative control and world class production these recorded albums seem like they would be a bit superfluous.

I wondered if at some point she is able to wrestle the right to the OG recordings away from numb nuts Scooter Braun at some point and then released a career retrospective greatest hits album, would she include the new versions or the OGs, it’s a very unique circumstance she and her fans find themselves in.
I'm not sure there's anything she could do at this point that her fans wouldn't enjoy. And kudos to her for that.

So how many exclusive variants are we going to end up with?

FML

At least four. When it was first announced, there were four cd versions (blue, green, yellow, and pink) that had their album covers obscured. As each new vinyl variant has been announced, the alternate covers have been revealed.

As of now, the pink album art hasn't been revealed, so it's safe to assume that the next vinyl variant announcement will be pink.

Target will probably get a variant, but I'm not sure whether it will be in addition to the four colors or if they'll just have the pink variant as their exclusive.

EDIT:
As a sucker who's ordered previous Taylor Swift vinyl variants as they've been announced *glares at Midnights*, I'm going to play with fire and just wait for the possibility that all four will be available in her store at the same time before committing to a pre-order.

Scooter Braun already cashed out on her masters. He sold them to Shamrock Capital in 2020 for $300+ million.

I think this might have already been posted, but didn't see it.

Sun Ra - Haverford College 1980
Boom boom cut

A lot of the gold RSD pressings were bunk it seems (mine was fine enough, I think I had one rough blip on it but thats it) so MH is replacing those as well. Not sure if just with black, or they did a small run of gold when they were getting these ones done.

Anyhoo, its a great set. I'd been waiting a few years for the vinyl release.
