Pre-Order Thread

I was at a dive bar in the pre-internet jukebox days. Someone played LA Woman and the whole bar sang it. I'll always remember it, just a cool musical moment.
Unplanned spontaneous singalongs are the best. My contribution is in the form of an entire mass of humanity at a bar all giving “The Sounds of Science” the business. Just typing it out makes me smile.

Deftones RULE! (and are not NuMetal FYI).
I'm with you, @Viking Dan. I loved the Deftones when they came out in the late 90s but couldn't get what people saw in Limp Bizkit or Korn or understand why anyone would try to group those three bands together. My friends and I who liked the Deftones were listening to the Cure, Dinosaur Jr., Hum, and indie rock and emo. And though all that's in the past tense, I still enjoy the Deftones.

But Florida Georgia Line and Willie Nelson are ostensibly both Country music acts and though I would rather take a ball ping hammer repeatedly to my noggin than listen to Florida Georgia Line it’s doesn’t mean that they don’t both make country music.

Chino loved The Cure and Morrissey where as I would assume Fred Durst was big into Motley Cru and Ratt and their Nu Metal bands reflected those influences.

Yeah, and Robert Smith/The Cure did an unplugged track with Korn. So, it's all relative.

Well, that's the end of Besties... Besmirching (and misspelling) Motley Crue and Ratt!!!

Inexplicably so. One of the worst offenders since they ripped the riff from the Chili Peppers Pretty Little Ditty.
Interesting. I never really think back on that one as Nu Metal but it was definitely of it's time.

The only real Nu metal album that I've listened to recently (I went down a bit of a rabbit hole after the Woodstock 99 documentaries) that I found holds up is Toxicity.

Yeah, I mean Rage Against the Machine is cut from the nu metal cloth. Their fans would probably cry that it's more funk metal, rap rock or rap metal, but again it's all relative and similar to the Deftones discourse.
