Pre-Order Thread

Flowers definitely owes Bowie and Springsteen pretty much everything. And then the Elton John flare on stage.

And New Order. Especially on Hot Fuss. I think they even took their name from a fictional band in a video for the New Order single that was on the 24 Hour Party People soundtrack.

That green REM “Up” is either back or still up. At this point I’ve lost track, but if you wanted the green version, it’s there.

If you have any Shop Cash from past Shopify site purchases, you can use it in REM's store.
I apparently had $8 to use, but you have to use it in the Shop app.

I was at a house party in college and the whole party stopped and sang this in unison. Probably 40-50 people. You think that kinda stuff only happens in the movies, but man, what a time to be alive.
I was at a packed bar in the mountains over Labor Day weekend and all the patrons randomly broke into “Margaritaville” when someone played it on the jukebox following Jimmy’s death. It was a weird wonderful experience.

I think Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine was where I first encountered them. Still think it’s the best song they ever did. The first half of Hot Fuss and most of Sam’s Town I find enjoyable but Day & Age lost me completely and bar the odd single there’s been nothing I’ve heard since that’s ever felt that interesting.

It’s all because of BFlow.

I had probably heard MR Brightside but I did not know it was the Killers. There was some song that was ubiquitous from Day and Age and that was when I became aware of who they were. I liked Battleborn okay. Wonderful Wonderful is when I stopped paying attention. I did really enjoy Flowers’ second solo album when he went full Springsteen.

The last two Killers albums are maybe their best actual albums. Definitely worth checking out Pressure Machine specifically if you haven't. Very different sound for them. More R.E.M. less U2. And then Imploding the Mirage has some War on Drugs vibes and is very consistent songwriting-wise.

I had kind of written them off after Wonderful Wonderful.

I was at a dive bar in the pre-internet jukebox days. Someone played LA Woman and the whole bar sang it. I'll always remember it, just a cool musical moment.
