It's a good way to re-experience the movie. It has the instrumental themes, the three mains often sing songs, and includes audio of funny scenes from the movie. I suspect it became even more popular (it had a cult following prior) after Martin & Short's recent musical adventures on "Only Murders..." S3.

Speaking of, just finished S3 of Only Murders and it really is a delightful show. Love that Steve and Martin had one more in em.
 


I'll be honest. I'm kinda on the fence about this. I'm going to wait and see what the band will produce for their release of it. If they decide on changing anything about it's original design like a new cover art then I'll be disappointed. But if they add enough quality of life touches like a remaster and bonus tracks or liner notes then I'll consider it over the MOV version.

Also I always thought that MOV releases were legit, or at least approved by the labels themselves...

They are legit, but MOV operates overseas and thus the laws on ownership are a bit looser IIRC. I’m on the fence as well as this seems kinda reactive on their part. How long have they had to get a reissue together now? I’m surprised it took MOV this long.
