Or they're just giving record shops a chance to make some money? If someone is buying 10-15 variants of any album, who cares? Most people are just going to buy the one the like best or can find cheap. Weird watching you all get upset about this particular album for that particular reason. Providing options isn't mandating anyone buys them all.
My main concern with lots of variants is that it can prevent smaller artists from getting their vinyl out on time if a major label artists is pressing a million different variants. When popular artists release a lot of variants the smaller artists get pushed to the back of the line.

Maybe? But that's just one of many factors and probably exaggerated.
It's not like labels are multiplying the target number of copies equally with each variant. Except maybe Adele. There's almost always a cap in place for each variant. And I'm not saying it can't happen, but I work with a lot of 'smaller artists' and haven't heard complaints about pressing delays in months now.
