Pre-Order Thread

Picked up a bunch of these studio one reissues and they are just okay sadly. Sound and pressing quality both were both meh. Source material may just not be great quality sound-wise but some killer music. I think 3/5 of the ones I got were warped
Yeah I have a handful and agreed. But this is a classic album that any reggae fan should pick up. It’ll at least be pressed on quiet (er) vinyl. I have an early issue of this one. No idea if it’s original but it’s not a sonic marvel. Same goes for literally any Studio One record I have. Music is absolutely amazing though.

On February 28, 2025, Stereolab are making seven of their studio albums available again as 2LP editions. These utilise the same remasters as the 2019 expanded album editions, cut from the original 1/2" tapes by Bo Kondren at Calyx Mastering and overseen by Tim Gane, but without any of the bonus material from the 3LP versions (which have now been discontinued), the idea being to make more cost-effective versions of these sought-after titles available to fans and shops.
Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements
Mars Audiac Quintet
Emperor Tomato Ketchup
Dots And Loops
Cobra And Phases Group Play Voltage In The Milky Night
Sound-Dust
Margerine Eclipse
Wish they had done this when they did the expanded reissues. Still will let me plug a final hole in my collection

There’s a missing link between Big Star and REM?

No offense intended to anyone that may purchase this, but I presumed that they had only released one album after Cracked Rear View (Fairweather Johnson - which I had to look up to remember the title of). TIL that there were 3 albums after that one. I have no clue who would have been into albums #4 and #5 of Hootie or who would think, cool, I want to drop $150 bones on a Hootie complete discography. But in the other direction. I'm surprised that the debut hasn't received some fancy pants audiophile edition yet.

I remember Fairweather Johnson because that was the first time I’d heard and learned the meaning of the term “Fairweather” and that album being a complete bomb (relatively speaking) based on expectations with how ubiquitous Cracked Rearview had been.
