Pre-Order Thread

On February 28, 2025, Stereolab are making seven of their studio albums available again as 2LP editions. These utilise the same remasters as the 2019 expanded album editions, cut from the original 1/2" tapes by Bo Kondren at Calyx Mastering and overseen by Tim Gane, but without any of the bonus material from the 3LP versions (which have now been discontinued), the idea being to make more cost-effective versions of these sought-after titles available to fans and shops.
Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements
Mars Audiac Quintet
Emperor Tomato Ketchup
Dots And Loops
Cobra And Phases Group Play Voltage In The Milky Night
Sound-Dust
Margerine Eclipse
Hugging all seven of my 3xLP reissues extra tightly now.

Soul Step Records Announces SSR-099 & SSR-100!

We are so thrilled to bring to our fans a living love letter to the work supporting independent artists over the years with SSR-099 and SSR-100 - There Is No Finish Line, Vol 2 & 3!

On SSR-099 we went back and plucked some of our favorite tracks from the releases from SSR-042 to now. An incredibly difficult task indeed but this should stand strong as a testament to the quality music that we've been lucky enough to partner up and release.

With SSR-100 we went back and hand selected not just the best tracks we’ve released via our Footprint Series imprint, but also went back and added some tracks that should have been part of this series to make a perfect compilation to share with anyone who loves Country, Western, Folk, Americana, Appalachian and more.

I cannot think of a better way to support the label and our future endeavors. If you appreciate what we do - please pick up a copy. Maybe you want to turn a friend onto our label so this makes a perfect gift for anyone wanting to discover their newest favorite artists.

The limited edition vinyl will go on sale for Soul Step Subscribers on Saturday, December 14th at 1PM EST. Sign up to not miss the drop!

We want this to go on forever. For there to be NO FINISH LINE. 🏁 🏁

Looks like people have caught on about Goodbye Horses on this soundtrack

Still a relatively inexpensive way to get that song if you want it.

I walked into a cheap copy of this just sitting in a bin at a local shop, wouldn't have paid big money for it

Turns out I met the woman who runs the small label it's on, and she's sending me more of her releases.

That Married To The Mob Soundtrack is a really nice New Wave comp. Coming from a Demme movie, it shouldn’t be a surprise but with a movie like Married To The Mob you’d expect it to contain some Rat Pack type shit.

Picked up a bunch of these studio one reissues and they are just okay sadly. Sound and pressing quality both were both meh. Source material may just not be great quality sound-wise but some killer music. I think 3/5 of the ones I got were warped
Yeah I have a handful and agreed. But this is a classic album that any reggae fan should pick up. It’ll at least be pressed on quiet (er) vinyl. I have an early issue of this one. No idea if it’s original but it’s not a sonic marvel. Same goes for literally any Studio One record I have. Music is absolutely amazing though.
I've been enjoying the two I picked up: Jackie Mittoo Macka Fat and Studio One Presents Jennifer Lara. They may not be audiophile pressings, but I believe both are remastered from the original tapes - so you get the hear the original versions of these songs, along with a decent sound upgrade on what has been available. I'll be picking up the Johnny Osbourne.

The music is very fun. I just recall mine sounding ok and a few being warped
