Pre-Order Thread

We give VMP crap about their prices...but honestly,
$26 for an 8 song album is the same ballpark.

...unless it’s 8 8 minute songs.

Maybe this belongs in Hot Takes.

No you are absolutely right. All of their releases are expensive now. I've complained about them before but like a sucker I'm back in everytime. Part of the reason is all of their LP's are two discs which would make you think high quality, which is also not the case.

I will say I've not bought several other artists who have done this recently.

And it can't all be blamed on the record companies either.

Sadly, it seems that everybody is doing this kind of pricing now. I think it's a mix of records being more expensive to produce and also just people more willing to pay it. When I first started buying records, the though of paying $30 shipped for a 1LP was laughable to me. Nowadays, I don't blink twice if it's an album I really want...

I give VMP crap for the pricing because A) their single LPs are $34 and doubles are $40 in the shop and B) their variants of albums are almost always more expensive (even including shipping) than other shops while also being less limited.

Avett’s are definitely overpriced. I actually only buy their stuff if I find a deal now. Which is easier considering the fact that I haven’t liked the last two albums very much.
True Sadness had some pretty decent stuff on it but overall wasn't great. the last one to me was a complete dud, but I only listened to it once or twice streaming... there was no way that I was looking to spend $40+ for it on vinyl. that said it's not too often they do color presses, so that and the fact it's in The Gleam series got me to bite.
I've been the same with the last couple because they usually end up on sale. The first single for the gleam 3 sounds like they're back in their roots though
agreed. I like the first single more than just about anything on the last two albums, though 'No Hard Feelings" is truly a special song.

this too. their vinyl presses are usually subpar, but yet I usually keep buying them.

The biggest deterrent with this set would be if you already own these titles. If you don't have any of them, it feels like a pretty solid purchase.
I don’t own any of them, so I pulled the trigger. I’ve been wanting Madvillany on vinyl for a while, I just hope it’s a decent pressing. And, FWIW, I’ve never heard either J Dilla or Jaylib, so I can’t wait!

Donuts is incredible. and Champion Sound is such a banger, but may not be everyone's cup of tea. the only issue with it is that some of the original samples on it have been changed which kind of ruins the listen for me, but being that you never heard it before it shouldn't really be an issue.

Two songs had samples changed totaling about 5 minutes of music. It ruins the listen of the other 45+ minutes?
