Rank The Albums!

My new Beach House arrived in the mail today but it may be a few days before I spin it and thus rank it. That said, I feel the need to intervene here with my semi-regular bit:

1. Thank Your Lucky Stars
2. The others in some order (probably Teen Dream > Bloom > yadda yadda blah blah)

FINALLY gave OTM a listen in full and yep, they've done it again. There about 10 songs that are good to great, 4 that I could probably cut(ESP🥱), and 6 that are among their best shit they've ever done(Sunset, Masquerade, etc), so pretty good ratio. It's not QUITE the direction I wanted them to go in after 7 (praying that one day they decide to crank the distortion), but it's what they've done best done very well. Bout 8.5/10 on first listen.

1. Bloom
2. 7
3. Teen Dream
4. Depression Cherry
5. Once Twice Melody
6. Thank Your Lucky Stars
7. Devotion
8. Beach House
I agree with this. 7 is sorely underrated, as is Depression Cherry.

Any MMJ list that does not start with Evil Urges is suspect.
1. Evil Urges
2. Z
3. It Still Moves
4. Circuital
5. S/T
6. At Dawn
7. Tennessee Fire
8. Waterfall 2
9. Waterfall
At Dawn at #6 is a spicier tamale than the expected Evil Urges at #1.

1. At Dawn
2. Z
3. It Still Moves
4. The Waterfall II
5. Circuital
6. Evil Urges
7. The Tennessee Fire
8. The Waterfall
9. My Morning Jacket

IMO the top 3 are unquestionably peak MMJ the order any of those would be an acceptable number 1 in my book.

Surprised to see The Waterfall 2 as number 4 on your list that album felt like a cast off to me.

Agreed about that three-album run for sure. I couldn't really quibble with any ranking between those three.

For whatever reason I bonded hard with Waterfall II. Probably had a lot to do with when it came out that first summer of the pandemic. Don't love every song, but I think overall it flows much better than the first Waterfall and the second half of Circuital. It's got its own vibe that I dig. But beyond the first three, the rest are all basically interchangeable for me. Except the self-titled so far, which I don't really like yet.

Waterfall II is the superior of the Waterfall duo, for sure.

Wow! That Killers list is wild with Wonderful Wonderful at #2. Let me take a crack

1. Sam's Town
2. Pressure Machine
3. Imploding the Mirage
4. Hot Fuss
5. Battle Born
6. Day & Age
7. Wonderful Wonderful

I think the first three are really good albums, but the other four are fairly flawed even though they all have great songs. I would put Brandon Flower's solo album The Desired Effect as number 4 on this list if it could be included.

Arctic Monkeys
1. AM
2. Suck it and See
3. Tranquility Base
4. Favourite Worst Nightmare
5. Whatever People Say I Am
6. Humbug

Love all 6 though.

I went through all The Killers albums last year and found myself weirdly drawn to Wonderful Wonderful which I never imagined would happen. For whatever reason it’s become a go-to, which is an unpopular opinion. I appreciate Pressure Machine a lot, but I like the glitzy, huge synth arena rock of their other stuff way more.
