The thing with CTE is their five albums are all very different from one another, which is why I think they have an interesting discography to try and rank. Melophobia was my favorite for a long time but recently I've shifted towards TYHB as my go-to CTE album because it's so manic and experimental. I enjoy the debut but it definitely sounds like a band still trying to find themselves to me.

Social Cues would have been at the bottom if I'd done my ranking when it first came out, but like you, it's grown on me a lot and I like it more with each listen. On the other hand, TMIP only gets worse with age... I don't think the songs themselves are bad but Dan's production just really did not mesh with their style. I remember being really into the album when it was new but I've gone back to it recently and it hasn't held up at all, and it's very rare that my opinion of an album actually turns from positive to negative. It's almost always the other way around.

Thought I was missing one! Love that record but not enough for 2 placements.

Fixed:

1. Murder Ballads
2. Skeleton Tree
3. Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus
4. The Boatman's Call
5. Let Love In
6. Ghosteen
7. Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!
8. Your Funeral... My Trial
9. Push the Sky Away
10. Tender Prey

I like this list a lot but No More Shall We Part has got to be at least top 7

tbh #11 and below I've only listened to a handful of times, if not fewer, and was only ranking off of my last.fm listening counts. Top 9 is pretty solid.

Fontaines D.C.
  1. A Hero's Death
  2. Dogrel
  3. Skinty Fia
Skinty Fia is a solid 8/10 but the other 2 are just better as of right now

Hatchie
  1. Keepsake
  2. Giving the World Away
  3. Sugar & Spice
Sugar & Spice is song for song her best release and would probably be #1 if it was a full album tbh.

Kendrick Lamar

(I'm curious to see if and how this changes upon further listening to the new one, but here are my immediately-out-of-first-listen thoughts):

1. To Pimp A Butterfly
2. Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City
3. DAMN.
4. Black Panther: The Album
5. Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers
6. untitled unmastered
7. Overly Dedicated
8. Section.80

This is a solid ranking. I prefer GKMC a bit more than TPAB but I understand why most would rank it number 1. I also would move Section.80 way up to #3. Everything else matches up nicely though.

New Rankings:
1. YHF
2. Summerteeth
3. Being There
4. Ode To Joy
5. A Ghost Is Born
6. Cruel Country
7. Schmilco
8. Wilco (The Album)
9. A.M.
10. Star Wars
11. The Whole Love
12. Sky Blue Sky

oh boy

also AM is too low IMO, but I'm a sucker for their first two albums

Sky Blue Sky would be higher - but Impossible Germany forces it to the bottom of list.
I know this is not the Hot Takes thread - but that's my take.

The more they explore what they started with A.M. in their later releases (Ode To Joy, Schmilco, Cruel Country) the more A.M. slides down the list for me.

yeah... when I first got into Wilco I liked that one, kinda pretty. But then I saw them live in 2016 and there were SO MANY dads rocking out to the end of it that it turned me away from it. It really felt like a dire straits or eagles song in that moment. Although "Either Way" is one of my very favorite Wilco songs which would probably pull that album up a few spots in my own ranking.
