All these lists are making me feel self-conscious about being apparently the only one who likes "fitter happier"

Electioneering is just a bog standard kinda ok rocker on a special album. The whole straightforward political analogy didn’t connect at all with me in comparison to the pre millennial fear/tension across the rest. It kinda sticks out a bit like a sore thumb.

Electioneering is very necessary to the album imo, it injects a blast of energy into an otherwise very somber & gloom and doom album. I think it's also pretty important thematically to have a song like it on the album that highlights how easy it is to trick gullible/desperate people into thinking you have their best interests in mind just through flowery language without actually having to act on those promises and just benefitting yourself. That has aged just as well as the rest of the album's messages about modern anxieties, consumerism, etc.
Yeah Untitled is a GREAT song, i just love every other song above it a little more. The only meh song is Lovesong, but I do still enjoy it.I'm also not a huge fan of Lovesong either. I got way into Untitled a few years ago and think it's incredible.

As an album opener, it gives me chills every time when the cymbals crash after the chimes, and yes, one of the best openers of all time. It sets the mood for the next 72 minutes perfectly. It’s a fucking great song.Lots of disrespect for Plainsong and Lullaby in this thread
FWIW I think Plainsong is top ten all time album openers.
I agree with this assessment. It has always stuck out, just doesn’t fit the mood of the rest of the record. It’s like it was meant for a different album, even though it is a great song.I think we’re just two fans on different journeys here! It feels thematically and musically at odds with the rest of the album for me. I am absolutely splitting hairs though because it is by no means a bad song, on its own it’s actually quite good, it’s just not on the genius scale of the rest of the album, for me.
The drums on “Untitled” are just so great. Actually the drums on the entire album. Boris Williams is amazing.I'm also not a huge fan of Lovesong either. I got way into Untitled a few years ago and think it's incredible.
