Is there any reason why I shouldn't make the gallon of chisto in distilled water from the grocery store and then pour that into empty seltzer bottles to have more manageable storage?

Started using the Chisto today. So far it seems to be working great. Haven't tried it on anything used since I pretty much only buy new these days but everything is sounding great.

Any general rule of thumb on when you're supposed to replace the vpi felt strips on the tubes?

They will last for hundreds of sides. I keep the strips clean with Magic Tape.

I bought it through Music Direct so it came with a Music Direct cleaning brush (well, multiple brushes really). But didn't know if there is preferred brush, or just use what's there and do it up.

Ah, I would give what you got a go and see how it goes, if you want to pick up the VPI brush Elusive Disc carries them, but they're $50.........it does a great job, but since you have something I would work with it for a bit and see

How hard does everyone scrub? Is there a "damn boy, stop scrubbing that hard" framework? I always feel like I shouldn't do too much or it might hurt the vinyl.

You can get pretty aggressive and be fine, just go with the groves

Good to know. I have a few older records that sound "dirty" instead of damaged but I have just not been willing to "scrub". So, I guess it is time to attack them with Christo and gusto.
