Record Store Day 2023

I am unsure if Bullmoose will post the prices this year. Would a good place to look be Rough Trade?

My local, High Voltage does kinda, they usually have price tags on the items they post online but I usually have to zoom in to see what the damage is.

I don't know any Canadian shop that I've seen post prices beforehand - I used to be pretty good at predicting based on US prices with a pretty negligible over/under, but after the $18-20 US Soul Coughing went $51-60 CAN, I just don't know anymore!

That Van Halen is the main crux of how I’m gonna price out what I can do this year. I’m headed to Disney World in December and I want money for fun down there.

The Zevon is a lock I just don’t want it to be import prices ($40-$50). I paid that for my copy of interludes but that was a boxset with proper book and to me it was worth the value with the care put in.

I love that Zevon album. I picked up the first-on-vinyl import a year or two ago. It’s a great add to the collection.

It's like clockwork. Every year I think I've got my list after a single passthrough and you all waltz on in and drop 15 titles that I somehow overlooked. Like do I need an entire rap album by Macho Man? No, but there are bangers on there that have no right to be as catchy as they are.
I just love The Macho Man, It’s something I doubt I will listen to often but I imagine it will give my niece or nephew a chuckle when they are sorting through my albums once I am dead.

My 'worth a closer look' list:

Allman Bros.
Tori Amos
Walt Bishop Jr.
Broken Social Scene
Cranberries
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Billy Joel
Elton John
Norah Jones
Carole King
Magnetic Fields
Todd Rundgren
Sigur Ros
Sun Volt
Sonny Stitt
Taylor Swift
T. Rex
Nuggets (though I have the original)
Muddy Walters
Wilco
Yes
Warren Zevon

Here's hoping most will be disappointing with more info. ;)

Y'all better be sleeping on that Peppa Pig until I cop it!

The real get is gonna be the Bluey Zoetrope. Although I don't see it on the RSD official list.

I think it's on the UK list and I don't even want to mention it knowing I don't stand a chance of copping it!

What are the chances that the Magnetic Fields and Jonathan Richman albums go up on Discogs for a “reasonable price” afterwards?

I was able to eventually snag the Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers release that came out last year on Discogs without setting foot in a record store. I plan on doing that again if I can.

Can’t speak for Magnetic Fields but it seems like you can usually get the Richman releases for MSRP or cheaper online following RSD.

I literally just pulled the trigger for an OG copy of this for $45 two days ago 😑 maybe the seller on Discogs knew something...

I wouldn't be surprised if it's close to $40 on rsd.
