Record Store Day 2024

I moved to a regional area of Melbourne about 18 months back and getting to my old locals is too far to drive. From what I hear some stores had queues beginning from 9pm last night.

I was contemplating not doing it this year but found a store close to me (1 hr away) that was opening at 8am and got here this morning at 6:30am and no one was here. Just before it opened there was about 5 people in queue. Score. That was 15 mins ago.

We all got we wanted and everyone was happy.

I got Sia, Parliament and Lost in Translation and it cost way too much.

That’s not a bad call. I took note last year and I was around 30th in line (some showed up before the store closed on Friday) and I think between 2-4 AM maybe like 4 or 5 more people showed up. 4 is when the line started to build and by 5 AM the line was down the block.

That being said for Black Friday I showed up a half hour before they opened with the line down the block, it took probably an hour before I was my turn and I was still able to easily grab everything on my list. I even went back later in the afternoon and picked up second copy of Rilo Kiley for my Secret Santa later in the afternoon.

You go to Hi-voltage, right? I bet they do a good amount on RSD. I saw their insta post with titles, looks like they have maybe one copy of that Bare Jr. I'm not seeing it anywhere around here. Hoping to find it online if not. Been loving that one.

Collective Soul's Dosage is getting its first vinyl pressing for it's 25th anniversary! That album was massive during my high school years. Surprised that apparently only me, @Hemotep, and @CrazyDiamond84 are interested in it. Hopefully it will be easy to pick up.

Other than that, I want the Chet Baker/Jack Sheldon, the Nat King Cole, the Art Tatum, the Sun Ra's, Bill Evans, Gorillaz, Willie's Phases and Stages, and maybe the Wilco set.
