Record Store Day 2025

Oh, I missed this on my first pass.

Just played this machine a week or so ago for the first time, really fun.

Release the soundtrack to Black Knight 2000, cowards.

First pass thoughts.

Bluey ~ Burger dog picture disc.
Grateful Dead ~ On A Back Porch vol 1.
Jayhawks ~ Blue Earth
Lou Reed ~ Metal Machine Music
Various Artists ~ Music For Our Mother Ocean Best Of
Eddie Vedder ~ Save It For Later/Room At the Top

And i'm sure I'll pick up the Showbiz one that @AndySlash pointed out. My oldest will definitely want that.
You should grab the MJ Lenderman live album too. You’ll love it.

Went through the list again and here is what I’ve settled on:

Zion I - Mind Over Matter (grail, must have, might literally die if I don’t get this)
Chevelle - Point #1 (missed this first time through list)
Joywave - How Do You Feel Now (not a must have as I already have a copy, but it’s my wife’s fave band)

If I’m completely shut out of those three at my local and I’ve waited a long time and not going home empty handed

Cali Agents - How The West Was One
Brittany Howard - Live at ACL
Gorillaz - Live from Apollo Theater

I was about to declare the list a fail for me for the very first time ever with nothing I wanted until I reached the last half...

The Replacements - Tim

Season To Risk - 1-800

Shudder To Think - Pony Express Record

The Verve - Voyager 1

I'm amazing that they are reissuing that Verve live album. I thought it was originally a bootleg.

Having looked at the official list a few times:

Must:
Jerry Garcia Band - Don't Let Go: Orpheum Theatre, San Francisco - May 21, 1976
Grateful Dead - Beacon Theatre, New York, NY 6/14/76
Talking Heads - Live on Tour
Various Artists - Jazz Dispensary: Night Lights
Various Artists - Soul Slabs Vol. 4

Maybe:
Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Keep Me In Mind Sweetheart

Don't need a 4 song comp of a few random live Dead songs sponsored by Dogfish Head.

ESSENTIAL:
Sun Ra - Nuits de la Fondation Maeght (DELUXE EDITION)
Gerry Mulligan / Thelonious Monk - Mulligan Meets Monk

Pharoah Sanders - Izipho Zam (My Gifts)
Sun Ra - Stray Voltage

IF MONEY WERE NO OBJECT:
Thelonious Monk - Live at the It Club
Tom Waits - Get Behind The Mule (Spiritual)
Prince & The New Power Generation - Live at Glam Slam
Hindu Love Gods - Hindu Love Gods
Archie Shepp - The Complete Live in Antibes
Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music
Frankie & The Witch Fingers - Live at KEXP
Various / Gilles Peterson - Gilles Peterson presents International Anthem

...there's a solid handful of other stuff I'd gladly pick up on deep discounts down the line as well.

The maker I read about the Zevon set the more I want it!!

This new 4 x LP boxset features three albums, Mr. Bad Example, Learning To Flinch, and The Mutineer, recorded during Zevon's second comeback in the years 1991-1995.
Mr. Bad Example is seeing its North American debut on vinyl, while the other two have never previously been available on the format. Mr. Bad Example includes two later period singles, "Searching For A Heart," and "Finishing Touches," Learning To Flinch has Warren running solo and live through all his classic Asylum-era tracks, and Mutineer which consists of home recordings, includes the title track later being covered by Bob Dylan. All three albums are mastered directly from the analog tapes by BERNIE GRUNDMAN.”

I am not saying this a a definite thing but it sounds like the John Prine box sets that Rhino did for RSD. The boxes are nice and it’s a decent value but Rhino also reissued standard break out releases down the road for everything in the box meaning if you don’t want to pony up for the box chances are good you can pick up the individual albums later as they are reissued.

And this ESSENTIAL off the UK list:
