RSD 2020

Totally agree and get it...I felt a lil like that when PUSA dropped their album on Kickstarter :)

I never really get mad when something pricey gets repressed. It's better for everyone to keep things in print and of course there is always some historical/archival value in owing an original pressing. But it makes it harder to justify shelling out the big bucks for a single title when it might be reissued for $24.99 in a year or two.

Bullmoose has all the Setpember and October RSD titles on their website as preorders. They're unlikely to get fulfilled, but BM doesn't charge until an item ships, so no risk? Probably just get cancelled. Just search the title you're after on their site.

Maybe just a glitch?

Edit: I did preorder Primus and Bill Evans.
pre-ordered Curren$y. hope the FBI doesn't show up at my door
Well... I've placed some Bullmoose preorders. I guess we'll all see how it goes.

The only item that I couldn't cart and purchase was the Dirty Three - Ocean Songs deluxe edition

I ordered Curren$y & Tear Da Club Up Thugz. Doubt they get fulfilled but it doesn’t hurt to try.

i am not going to preorder for a couple reasons..
1. it will probably be cancelled
2. if it doesn't get cancelled i dunno if they have enough to give everyone it
3. i would lead to less people getting the record they want when it comes out officially

its interesting that you seem the be the only person who is hoping to get TDCUT

im surprised not as many people want slob on my knob

Yea I’m surprised more people don’t want it. I can’t wait to hear Slob On My Knob on vinyl. And it’s got the Hypnotize Cash Money which is basically Three 6 Mafia featuring The Hot Boyz.

Me either. There is zero chance these get fulfilled. Just a bunch of cancellation emails in the next few days when they figure out they screwed up.

Well I am the people that want the records I ordered so let's cross of no. 3

But maybe it's some experiment, maybe the big stores are like "this process is STUPID just give us pre-orders to sell and whatever"

Physically going to a record store parking lot to sit and wait your turn on a timer based safety risk is just so asinine and pointless

If you wanna consider a worst case software scenario, not only do these get cancelled, but when you try to order them on legit leftover day, the limit flag gets tripped because it’s in your history and doesn’t let you add it to your cart because it’s limit one.

It’s not likely, but it’s also an edge case I’d be curious if the new platform was tested for.

Bull Moose oddly had each title limited to two, so unless you ordered two, the limit may not trip even if that is the case.

Honestly, the odds of it going through are extremely low but so if the effort placed in compared to waiting hours to get into a store that may or may not have copies. The bigger risk may be if they don’t cancel it and the call on whether to buy a copy while having one “on order” comes up.

I had an extremely successful RSD. My local opened at its normal time (10am). Instead of having RSD items on a separate display, they put all the RSD releases together with the general collection (i.e. to get Robyn I needed to go to the Robyn section). The idea was to avoid clustering and thus minimize risk of COVID. Personally I think they could have done something different (like limit the number of people allowed in the store at any given time), but it wasn’t all that bad of a plan in the end.

I showed up at 7:40am and was the first one in line. That turned out to be essential because, being a small shop in a small town, they only had 1-2 copies of RSD items. I had checked with them earlier in the week and made sure they had the items I wanted. My must-get was the 1974 Bowie live album, and I learned they only had one copy of it. The third guy in line was after it, and he was out of luck. I had already mapped out my route so I quickly grabbed The Cure, Bowie, and Robyn:

Then I shopped around some more and ended up with a first pressing of the infamous Miles session with Monk ($12, G+/G+ in my book), plus Magic Sam and Tom Waits:

* technically not because this is a compilation of two previously released 10”s.

Replacements Live At Maxwell's is a really good one to tide you over until then

I've ordered a limit 1 product from Bullmoose multiple times before.

Also, that's not the worse case scenario

That's some bold inference that none of us actually want the thing we're ordering and to imply there's something more noble about jumping through hoops in this circus like we do every RSD. Some people feel like it's worth it to take a chance on something, knowing it's a longshot. Please don't try and twist this into some morality issue, just because you can't or won't try for something.

1. It probably won't work any way
2. It probably won't work anyway
3. If it does work for you, after I Debbie Downered your hope and efforts and didn't try myself, then you are a bad person hurting others

You can twist anything like that, if you really wanted to. "If you pick up a record for someone else, that takes away one copy alotted to someone in my city that may want it." If you buy a record where you only enjoy a song or two, that takes the rest of the songs away from someone that loves the whole thing."

The only risk here is if your funds are frozen and you can't financially swing it -- I can't remember if they charge when you order, or not. It's a personal choice with yourself. It has nothing to do with anyone else.
