STAR WARS! STAR WARS! STAR WARS

Perhaps but then I suppose I wasn’t quite as gaga about Andor as the norm. It was good and all but I wasn’t as keen on the bits with the weirdo failed policeman living with his mum and his mate dodgy Trevor from Eastenders.

Glad it’s not just me ..I didn’t think Andor was quite the beast it was cracked up to be..slowed paced and too long imo ..and we didn’t even get to the jumping off point for Rogue one....much preferred Kenobi, Mando and Boba Fett tbh ...

This latest episode of Mando was a bit clumsily done...the old shit sandwich approach ..fast dogfighting space ships and shoot out ..then hit the breaks and ..slow back story of Dr Clone and hints at underground empire activity ...then a Mando Coda .....

Overall though it’s intriguing..where did those fighters come from, and whose bumping off people and why ....

Yeah I don’t know if I’m quite with you either. Andor is probably the best thing they’ve done since the Rogue One film, which is probably the best thing since the original trilogy. I just don’t think it was quite the masterpiece it got hyped to me. More a small oasis in a desert.

Book of Fett was awful. The Mandelorian has always been a bit up and down throughout its 3 seasons. I did really enjoy Kenobi but with the caveat that it ends there. It was nice to fill in the back story and Ewan is great as the character but the lack of jeopardy was an issue and it’s difficult to know where they could go next.

Honestly, a nice 4K remaster of the original theatrical cut of the OT (there are very good fan projects out there) is kinda all that’s really essential to me.

Boba Fett ( minus the parts that continued the Mandalorian story) is in the absolute bottom of star wars for me. That show was pretty terrible

Rise of Skywalker is the worst film I’ve ever seen. There was nothing worth saving about it. I’d rather the shonky CGI and shit dialogue of Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones to whatever the fuck that was. Book of Fett is the worst of the tv shows so far for sure.

That´s why i´m a little worried that the Mandalorian story might be trying to bridge triologies and dabble into the clonig of the emperor things from ros
Hard to compare. I am especially salty about Boba because it just took a fan favourite character from the OT and obviously did not know what to do with and just decided to completely reinvent him. and do that with such terrible writing that even the new character they made up had no plausible motivation or inner life whatsoever

What still baffles me the most is that they did not have an overlaying plan for the sequel trilogy (except cash in on peoples star wars nostalgia) and switched writers, directors, tonality, direction etc. after each film so movies 2 and 3 would go out of the way to trash some parts of the film before

I liked the Last Jedi and didn’t think it trashed The Force Awakens. It just took that base to do its own thing. It didn’t get everything right and the casino sequence whilst a good idea felt overlong and a bit too preachy. I just don’t get anything about Rise of Skywalker, it acts like last Jedi never existed whilst also not making any sense either in that context or even just in isolation.

I am with you on the last Jedi but i had the feeling that it took some thinks (like the skywalker sword they made a big deal about in force awakens that Luke throws away immediately) from force awakens and just let them run as loose ends. And a lot of the things they did felt very refreshing. If they continued the way of the last Jedi with the last one that might have been a good sequel trilogy. But overall i felt it was very clear that they were making these movies along one by one without any story arc they agreed on before.

The Force Awakens was fun to watch in theaters because it was the first new Star Wars film in so long. I didn't enjoy The Last Jedi in theaters but after several re-watches I've come around to it. I'd say the opposite of Rise of Skywalker. I thought it was OK when I watched it in theaters but I find it very boring and very long when I re-watch it.

I’ve still never rewatched Rise of Skywalker since the cinema. It actually made me sad to watch even on the big screen. It’s the only Star Wars film that I haven’t bought on blu ray or dvd either, can’t see that I ever will.

Most of my re-watches have been catching bits and pieces of it on TV. I probably only sat down to re-watch it once.

I'm in the same boat. I liked The Force Awakens, loved The Last Jedi, but the Rise of Skywalker really put a sour taste in my mouth. So much so I haven't even brought myself to keep up on the Disney+ shows, although the buzz on Andor is gonna change that. JJ Abrams is great at starting stories, not so much at ending them.

All that said, I'm prepping to do a sequel trilogy rewatch soon, so we'll see how I feel about it after a second watch through.

Pedro Pascal is just a voice actor
I mean, while this isn't the best take, it's not....wrong. He wasn't even on set for the entirety of season 1.

Now if it were me personally, I would never take the damn thing off, no matter how uncomfortable.

EDIT: Additionally with the appearance of action in the S3 trailer and having to definitely be on set for TLOU which was released at almost the same time, its not crazy to think he'll be in the suit less this season than S2.

Rise of Skywalker was awful of course but lets not kid ourselves and say any conceivable film could correct the first two. The moment the script for TFA was locked in shit was doomed.

The whole "they didn't have a plan for the sequel trilogy" thing strikes me as complete bunk, especially when you consider there was no plan between the OT films (Luke and Leia's parentage/relation being an obvious sign of this), and that A New Hope (or Saga of the Whills or whatever) would have been an interminable slog had it not been edited down to a single, consumable script.

I also think Last Jedi (the first movie in over a decade I saw twice on the big screen) gets a real bad rap for taking some of Force Awakens' JJ-style mystery boxes and smashing them in the garage with a hammer, but all those moves are "yes, and"'s which address immediate story concerns and leave narrative threads wide open for the next movie to explore; maybe it doesn't move the baton in the same direction as Force Awakens telegraphs, but it's still progressing forwards. I'm not a huge fan of Trevorrow, but I've read a synopsis of Duel of the Fates and at least it continues carrying the baton forward.

It's kinda ironic that the MCU introduced the idea of a film franchise which is planned out and cohesive, even though there are many, many examples of course corrections and in-the-moment rejiggering which illustrate the need to focus on and deliver a single, cohesive movie.

Stoked on finally getting the last 6 issues collected!

Nice!!!! This seems to be the whole series, which is fantastic. The 2 trades IDW put out are digest sized and smaller than the original comics (which I’m pretty sure Dark Horse doesn’t do), so having this glorious art in full size and in one collection will be great. Really fantastic series.

Marvel also announced an omnibus of the Season 1 series, complete with Trail of Shadows and Eye of the Storm, coming this fall! Excited for that one.

finally watched return of the jedi... it was alright.. the action scene with jaba was cool (the dance scene is fine as a shitpost), and ewoks are kinda fun as a quirky little group.. but also I was getting a bit distracted halfway through so I didn't really feel as gripped and engaged as everyone else

so overall I think the original trilogy is alright... i still am not the super fan a lot of others have become (maybe if I watched them when I was younger), and I'm not in a hurry to watch the prequels or the 5 other shows that are required viewing

tbh I only watched these ones because I'll be going to didney world in a month and I wanna be prepared to see star wars land

I actually just picked up the rest of the Marvel Phase 1 trades today because of a 25% off sale, so I'll likely skip the omnibus for those. Will probably keep to single trades for the Marvel stuff and collections for the Adventures stuff going through the next phases. I've read the Phase 2 stuff digitally so far, but look forward to the tactile experience too!

I'm disappointed they don't seem to be doing picture books for Phase 2 - My son and I really enjoyed the ones from Phase 1 (although he doesn't love The Battle for Starlight as much as the others because of the cliffhanger with Burryaga.)
