Television

Everything I wrote about Severance like a week ago is still how I feel.

I find it disappointing that the finale is supposed to be satisfying. The only thing that's a major mystery to the audience (who is Helly really) is the one thing answered, and even there there's so much left unsaid. It was a tense finale, and there were things I loved to see happen. But ultimately as a season of tv, there are too many instances of things being thrown at the viewer that are left completely unexplored. Season 2 should come out the gate swinging, expanding the worldview of the show and allowing us in more areas of the company or more areas of the outside world (or both). Unfortunately, I think they'll keep so many things in the dark for as long as they can, which is a bummer. Ultimately, it's an enjoyable show, and it feels like things are getting answered, but when you really dive into what is going on, I think it can kinda fall apart and come off as a disappoint. At least for me it is. So much of it is purposefully obfuscating what's going on - which is fine - you just have to eventually answer what the hell is going on. And I expected a bit more answers than what we got.

It lost steam for me around episode 4-5 but I'm glad I stuck with it. The last couple of episodes were great.
I watched it for a second time through with my wife and it definitely rewards more on rewatches. The payoff of the last episode is worth the price of admission, but there’s just some great character building in this show.

And the premise obviously hits close to home as a dystopian future that likely isn’t too far off.

After having a week to digest, I am more satisfied with the season finale of Severance now. I think I better understand that there is simply a much larger scope than I anticipated, so the lack of answers makes sense. It’s a slow build, and I will put my faith in them gradually revealing things in future seasons. I just hope they do genuinely know where it is going.

Finished Peaky Blinders S06 finale last night. Thought the finale was a bit meh tbh and the door left open for something down the road (movie or reunion ?) We will see. The music as always was top notch.

I am the same. The finale was great, but I realize there is SO much more to tell. I want to rewatch the entire season, I've heard it's worth it.

I'd like to think the show creators have an ending and aren't just spinning as they go.

Prediction- Severance is a prequel to Zoolander.
