Just watched the first episode of "We Own This Town". Another great David Simon series. Also another round of "hey, he played X in the Wire"
I am very excited to jump in to this. I ran out of time today but Simon rarely disappoints.Just watched the first episode of "We Own This Town". Another great David Simon series. Also another round of "hey, he played X in the Wire"

Jon Bernthal has an absolutely punchable mug in this, especially his scene at the end of the first ep.I'm excited for this one!
I hesitated with Tokyo Vice but have enjoyed the first couple of episodes. Slow Horses is ok, but Mick Herron is no Le Carre. You could probably hold Slow Horses until you have less stuff to watch. Its good but not great, though Gary Oldham is really good and farts a lot. Curious about Banner of Heaven, but probably has less farting. The list of new TV shows I want to watch but have not yet started keeps getting longer:
We Own This Town
Slow Horses
Tokyo Vice
The Tourist
Outer Ridge
Under the Banner of Heaven
Help me?
Seeing his Hot Ones episode gave me a lot more insight into that guy and a lot of respect for his acting. He almost always plays a guy you're not supposed to like and he does it so well, but he seems like a pretty cool guy in real life.Jon Bernthal has an absolutely punchable mug in this, especially his scene at the end of the first ep.

It was good way to send off that portion of the story. That phone call to his Pop broke my heart. This weeks Saul was amazing...
That last 10-15 minutes, especially Michael Mando's acting & speech right at the end to Hector Salamanca. Doesn't get better than that.

Yeah the tension was something else. Happy with how things are going.I was honestly relieved that Nacho found a place at the gas station where he could take a minute to breathe and think through his options, no matter how limited they were. I half expected the attendant to call the Salamancas.
I read that they hired professional dancers for that first scene so they could choreograph it better. That level of detail is fantastic. And it was great to catch up with the Kettlemans.Yeah the tension was something else. Happy with how things are going.
Also, some of the cinematography was a sight to behold. I binged the first 3 episodes over the weekend and the opening sequence of the first episode with the ties being loaded into the box and then the way the camera slowly scans the house was worthy of a movie screen. But the shot that really blew me away was the one of the ant crawling on the hand of one of the bodies from the botched raid. You could literally see the finger prints on his fingers. It’s brilliant shots like that make me hate lazy CGI all that much more.
And it was even better to watching Kim come in and savage them without even raising her pulse.I read that they hired professional dancers for that first scene so they could choreograph it better. That level of detail is fantastic. And it was great to catch up with the Kettlemans.
Just watched that scene. And it was even better to watching Kim come in and savage them without even raising her pulse.
Also, we are a few episodes in and Jimmy is kind of a soft touch, giving the Kettleman’s (who I don’t feels sorry for; they were stealing tax returns from people who need it. Their sense of entitlement is infuriating) the cash because he felt bad for them. Something big has gotta happen to turn him into Saul Goodman, friend of the cartel and owner of a gold commode.Just watched that scene.
Am I wrong for feeling sympathetic for Betsy Kettleman when Kim came down with the stick?
The actor playing her plays the domineering, brow-beating wife so well. But when she was standing there holding her tears and choking into her pursed lips....I felt it. I wanted to hug her.
Also, yeah, Kim is savage. I hope they wrap up her story in a satisfying way.
You forgot Winning Time (currently my favorite new show of this season) and We Own This City.So much TV on right now, it's like the post-covid golden age. Better Call Saul, Ozark resumes tomorrow, new season of Undone tomorrow, Barry, Severance, Atlanta, Maisel, The Boys in June. Shooooweeeeee
