Texas

If you already speak Spanish, you’re double in.

People in San An are also generally nice. People in Texas are nice, but San An is a little more laid back. So if you’re there, you’re in.
My Spanish is admittedly iffy. In order of ability:

1. Reading - actually I can read something like a periodical or more formal writing without pause and near complete understanding. If we get to idiomatic, technical, or poetic/abstract language then I'll struggle.
2. Listening - I'm pretty good at understanding Spanish that is spoken to me and even if I don't know words, I can usually pick up context. Fast speakers is where I'll struggle.
3. Speaking/writing - yes I'm crap there. I understand Spanish grammar really well but my vocab is lacking.

You'll be fine! Enjoy it, but sorry you just missed the nice time of year and it's already hot now, lol.

Yup! While this is not the most humid place or disgusting weather I've ever experienced....it is definitely hot!

Lol...I appreciate the concern.

I have spent a summer in SATX going through basic training so not having to march about will be a boon. I've also lived in San Angelo previously so I get it.

With respect to the everything is bigger in Texas outlook, having lived in SE Asia and the Middle East, there is only so much U S. summers and humidity can do to me.

But I look forward to reporting back mid-summer when I'm a melted puddle.

Any SATXians (is that a thing) into King Crimson? The Beat Tour added a date (12/14) in San Antonio.

Any reviews on the Majestic Theatre? Anyone going?
King Crimson not my thing, but Majestic Theatre is okay. Second level GA is a good spot if you’re by the front rail, next to riverwalk near some cool bars. Terrible parking situation, operated by Ticketmaster so fees out the ass, and line cue is terrible as lots of drunk tourist walking. But riverwalk will be lit up with Christmas lights and that will be nice!

I loooove the Majestic. Memo may be right with his assessment if you want technically perfect sound and views, but the Majestic is one of the original five theatres of downtown (not all survived long enough to be saved as landmarks) and is a gem.

for a long time it was the largest theatre in Texas and the second largest in the US. my grandmother told me stories of getting to drive up from the border as a little girl to go to the ballet there and sit inside the AC (novel!) and how fancy it made her feel. I love when I get to work at this venue so I have the chance to explore all the back pathways and the secret halls connecting to other buildings downtown. I wish things were still built this way.

I've not run into some of the issues Memo mentioned with the queuing but that may have been the timing and types of shows I've seen over the years. I hope you enjoy the Mediterranean jewel as much as I do!

oh also- I can see if I am able to help you purchase the tickets without the fees if they are egregious- let me know if you are definitely going and I will see if I have the option.
I appreciate it. My duty schedule is a bit rough if I have work the next day (although I believe I'll be off), as I get up at 0315. Either way, imma wait to get tix cause I don't think it's gonna sell out.

I appreciate the offer!

Yeah you need to have it in a door way with the back facing out that way the humidity gets out. But you are right they arent the most ideal solution for high humidity. Stay safe!

Appreciate it! Luckily we have a portable AC unit in the guest room, so that room is semi cool. Fingers crossed we can get someone to get things back up and running today!

Update: We were not able to get things up and running. Thank God for dog friendly airbnb options just a few minutes away.

Yesterday my office hit 91 degrees inside. My desk and filing cabinets were warm to the touch.

Still love Texas, but it's testing me right now :ROFLMAO:
