I only enjoy Belgian singers that sing in Flemish.Jacques Brel is one of the GOAT when it comes to music sung in French, and he is Belgian.

In all seriousness, I have heard at least one of these songs before. Is this being a hit why this is on the list?
This is one of those records that make it tough for me to completely cut out Kanye’s music from my life. Tracks like “All of The Lights” “Power” and “Runaway” are some of the most awe inspiring hip-hop tracks ever produced. That being said, unlike the other problematic artist that was touched on (Ryan Adams) Kanye is just a bridge too far for me to enjoy his music in any meaningful way at this point. Hopefully he gets the help he needs and shows genuine remorse for the pain he’s caused and then maybe I can again jam to some of his catalogue but at this point it’s a no go for me unfortunately.Been doing this for a couple of weeks now and this is what I got today:

I don't care for this record, never have, that could also be said for all of his albums, they just never hooked me and there's so much other music out there to listen to that I just moved on. I tried again and it still does nothing and that's ok, I know people love this record and that's great, it's just not for me, I don't know I'll give it a solid 1/5

Funny thing this song is a not so subtle love song about heroin… that is until 90s quasi-Christian pop group Six Pence None The Richer got their mits on it and the song became a 90s teen movie soundtrack staple/Adult Contemporary Radio hit meaning Mom and daughter could both him along while shopping for low cut flared jeans at American Eagle.
Yeah, I have seen where he denies it but I think it’s much too clever and works too well as an ode to heroin not to be about that despite his claims. If you wanted a song to be a hit telling everyone it’s about hard drugs isn’t necessarily the best way to accomplish that.Or is it? Urban legend has always said it was, and you can kinda figure out why from the lyrics, but there is no record of Lee Mavers saying that. He was a heroin addict but he denies that’s what the song is about and his admission is he stared in 1990 but this song originally started life around 1988.

Lucky gap! I love that album so much!
The single of “American Pie” was so long they had to use both sides of a 45 to play the whole damn thing.
i've never listened to this album previously, so didn't know what to expect from the rest of the record, but it sounds pretty much in the same vein as the ubiquitous title track, with sections of a couple other songs even sounding like they were straight pulled from it. whereas yesterday's album, m.i.a.'s kala, was too schizophrenic for me to want to listen to it frequently, this one is just too staid for me to feel like it deserves repeated listens. and while there are exceptions, i'm generally not one where i seek out or enjoy singer-songwriter, minimal-to-no-accompanaiment records all that often, and that's very much what this is. it's the music, and not lyrics and storytelling, that drives my interest in ones music, and the music here is pretty straightforward and works towards the service of the words more than anything else. there's nothing wrong with that, of course, but it'll be a much harder sell for me.
if you have $200, you can buy this at the don mclean webshop. only 28 left!
