The Beatles

Ya, I completely understand.............but missing only Yellow Submarine and With the Beatles makes it really annoying.
It shouldn’t be too hard to write off Yellow Submarine as that’s not a proper album (even though it’s considered canon). With the Beatles is so good and underrated, though... that’s gotta be painful.

Yeah even if I spent a little over what I’ve ideally wanted I’d get to the point of only missing With The Beatles and hating myself for wanting to spend $400 on what I consider to be their weakest studio album (well either it or Beatles For Sale) that I also have a lovely mono copy of.
Agreed, if I wasn't this close I would probably change directions on getting this finished up. I'll grab YS and then hope for a miracle, or when I'm ready to live without a kidney, lol.

In all seriousness, I'm with you, out of all the albums, this isn't the "must have" of the bunch, it's just the 1st MoFi............and, it's The Beatles.

oh, yea, so now that we got all things must pass remixed/remastered for its 50th anniversary (not a beatles record, but still got the same treatment as pepper/white/abbey road imo), i think it’s safe to assume we wont be getting a 50th edition of let it be. shame.

so i guess i gotta stop holding out in grabbing rubber soul, revolver and let it be in the hopes they’ll get the 50th special treatment

Do we know this for a fact ? That would be a shame, there are so many new, young, Beatles fans by the day and old farts like me :ROFLMAO: with a somewhat ratty Beatles Lp stash that deserves a refresh.

Yeah I mean I totally get you. It’s The Beatles is the point. But then $400. How many second hand OG records can I ship from Japan for that kinda money…

(The answer judging by my last splurge is 20-25…)

I go back and forth on this one, it really boils down to cost for YS

No, I'm with you, I just don't think missing that one album is a strong enough case to ditch some of the others since I might not be able to complete the set, is all I'm saying.

Oh yeah for you. You’re on 11/12 out of 13! I’m on 7. Ditching 5 and then buying one more is less painful. That said the White Pressing is so good, man id find it hard to lose that one. And so the insanity prolongs itself…

White is stunningly great :)

..............maybe we'll pull YS off the list and look for a Horzu MMT :)

Horzu MMT?

I’m still thinking I’ll likely sell Pepper’s/Magical Mystery Tour/Help! MoFi. I much prefer the monos, even if the mofis are stunning, and it can fund whatever Yellow Submarine I get and leave a bit spare to buy other stuff.

White I can probably justify in my only internal insanity by it being the first one where both mixes were of equal significance rather than stereo being an engineer led afterthought.

The good news is none of those should be a hard sell at a good price ;)

I’d like to recoup my costs and I paid a little over median for them but yeah I think they can be shifted. Ironically white would likely be hardest to do that, I paid a good chunk over median for a really super clean copy lol.

Ya, I'm not opposed to spending a bit more for an exceptional copy of something I really want.

Not sure about Let it Be, but here is an article on why we won't see Rubber Soul or Revolver soon.

If anybody is lookin for some of the Beatles MoFis from the box set (so no album art....which I know, to some, is sacrilege haha) these prices seem pretty good. I got offers accepted on Rubber Soul and Revolver for $10-$15 off asking.

I would have grabbed that Please Please Me, the only Beatles album I'm missing!

I think Let It Be is a mix between covid putting a spanner in the works and potentially also what could be an understandable reticence with Giles to touch an album that always remained a sore spot for his Dad.

It’s always a good idea with Beatles to do a bit of hunting to see if you can find clean Japanese pressings or 80s U.K. Parlophone pressings. Certainly over the 2012 stereo represses anyway.

yea, for me, i haven't had any luck finding good copies, but i've been feeling the impulse lately to get the modern-day copies mostly for the fact that I grew up with the 2009 digital remasters, so i'm more familiar with those mixes rather than the actual originals. so, we'll see

I dont think they remixed for the 2009 digital transfers that were then used to master the 2012 vinyl pressings. They still the same mix notes with all the mad panning just they were cleaned up a bit and are mastered a fair whack hotter.

The only new mixes that I’m aware of any Beatles stuff is the 3 50th versions. I’m just not as big a fan of the 2012 vinyl because it lacks dynamics and is a bit too hot for my taste, especially as there are for my money better alternatives.

I’ll concede that they are long long way from being the worst pressings that I’ve heard from a digital source either.

Also because I’m a complete addict I bought the 50th All Things Must Pass (got the green splatter 3LP) and it arrived today.

I’ll clean and spin it later but initial impressions are wow what a gorgeous package. Also I hope someone from mofi bought it, realised this is how you do a box and decided to put this quality and the hinged lid into their one step packaging.
