The Blue Note Thread

I think all the retailers in the UK have mistaken this as a double lp & priced accordingly
I ran down to my local a couple of hours ago before they closed and got the last copy. I paid £25 which was £2 more than the other Classics he had.

I still feel hard done by when it's not the £17-£18 I remember paying for a new 1lp release (honestly doesn't feel that long ago that this was the norm?) but I have been looking forward to this one and I guess it's helping out my local as well.

The 2 (how do you make a pound symbol?) extra is because they recently raised the price of all recent classics and TP. Not sure how the repress of the earlier records will be priced?

I thought that but they also had the Reuben Wilson and Jimmy Smith for £23 which I think are only just out today as well?

Looks good. I'll definitely pick it up but it seems to be higher priced than the Jimmy Smith & Rueben Wilson, £25 at my local where the others are £21. (I'll probably end up getting all 4 of the new releases tbh)

Any initial comments on the Blakey Live In Tokyo? Waiting on my copy to arrive here
I'm not sure how audiophile it will be. I mean they're found, home tapes. It's been worked on/remastered by Grundman himself though, the technology these days for restorations is quite good, and the video sounds pretty good to me first listen.

It might be because the tracklisting is included in the centre of the gatefold, so this way they can keep the 2 original front covers as the front and back of this release.
I've got these on Japanese 10" from the 90's that I bought new, but probably haven't listened to since then....anyone else have these that can comment on SQ
