The Blue Note Thread

For another incredible Ike Quebec/Grant Green outing check out Blue and Sentimental. I have the Music Matters 33-1/3 and it’s sublime.
I'll check it out. Might be a BNC one day...

On another Blue Note, the Sonny Clark Trio is flipping good. It's in that transition period of 1957 but I swear the piano is mono full blast while the bass and percussion are stereo out. Crazy good Tone Poet that is an instant classic.

Considering the $20 price point we often see on these BNCs and more often sub $15 on sale, I'm not mad at all when a title goes BNC vs TP. The quality is really high on these BNC releases. I don't mind sacrificing the extra gatefold space either.

I’ve gotten most Tone Poets for $25 so I’d much rather go that route personally. I like the nicer jackets a lot.

Yes for sure but getting titles like Speak No Evil and Empyrean Isles for around $20 at this type of sound quality is really nice. I am not sure I could tell a difference if it was a Tone Poet vs BNC release in a blind listen.
I’m not sure I could entirely tell a difference or if the nicer overall package is just making me think the TPs are better quality haha.
