The Blue Note Thread

Continuing research into whether or not Moanin' in mono is just a fold-down and therefore not something I can find a reason to need has resulted in learning that this was actually the last session Rudy recorded using both stereo and mono recording setups.
Well somebody placed a bid now!

Haha didn't see the edit to his post about bidding on it.
The more I research it the more I want it! Now that I know it's not a fold down and the more I look into Rudy's techniques, it appears he always did the mix with an ear towards mono, at least for a while after this. Someone has bid against me though! I'm not sure how bad I want this. If someone here is bidding on it and wants it please let me know and I'll stand down.

I opened up a can of worms! Sorry! Haha. It’s not me bidding on it!

There's a total of three bidders now. It's gaining momentum! Maybe it'll just go out of my range and I won't have to worry about it.
And to think I could have had it for $70 last week because nobody bid on it! I’d be weary if the vague description of the condition but those old copies tend to play well as long as there are no feelable scratches.

So my theory that all Blue Note eBay auctions are unknowingly driven up by other N&G members checks out :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Yeah, I had bid on it before I read the message that another N&G'er had done so. And $70-75 was the absolute top of what I wanted to shell out.

Theres a handful of the DeAgostini records been put up on ebay for a tenner each. I went for the Lee Morgan - Indeed (I have come to the realization I wont be getting an OG any time soon) and McCoy Tyner - The Real McCoy.

Link? I got Indeed which I have to re-listen to and was going to look at Tyner but already have a repress of it...I snagged 9 others though in the past 2 weeks haha. @Mr Moore got the nicest haul of them I have see thus far!

EDIT: Found them. That's the seller I bought two batches from. I'd recommend picking up Soul Station too if you can!

Yep--that's the one! I went back for seconds even though the shipping is a bit pricey to the US. Still cheaper than most good pressings here though. Wish they had the magazines but oh well!

Yeah I would love the Lee Morgan magazine for sure. But for the price they are charging, I cant complain.

I guess you could have gotten a subscription to the entire series when it started through DeAgostini...I totally would have done that had I known. Tried to get in touch with DeAgostini to see if there is a way to still purchase any through them directly but haven't been able to get in touch with anybody. Some of those titles are absolutely fantastic. I saw somebody on eBay had the Joe Pass "For Django" record and that is another amazing one. It just doesn't make sense for me to buy any from a seller in the UK unless they are selling more than one otherwise shipping is crazy.
