The Dark Side; Digital audio equipment recommendations and setup.

That box set sounds like it was recorded on a potato and then mastered through a loaf of bread squished between a mattress and a pile of used socks.
That’s a … very specific method.

As for all the stuff on the last couple of pages, it makes me appreciate Roon more.

I was wondering, does Qobuz have ads? I was looking at maybe switching from Tidal, but I read a couple comparisons and they both mentioned Tidal being ad free as a perk for Tidal, and not noting it for Qobuz. I can’t stand ads, so if Q has them I’ll just stick with Tidal and the higher price.

Does Apple not like Node?
I know they have their app on a couple of streamers currently.

Sonos are the only ones they’ve actually done a deal with to allow you to log into Apple Music from their app.

The eversolo and fiio both are android devices so are basically odd shaped tablets connected to a DAC. The app is is in the android app place same as it is on any android pbone or tablet.

I do find it funny that you need android device to fix an Apple problem: airplay.

Whatever BluOS updated yesterday in 4.0.2, hosed up the home screen loading.
Qobuz still plays so we're still jamming here.
Really looking forward to the vinyl Siamese Dream I ordered from Plaid. It sounds great on Qobuz CD quality today.

And I suppose it’s almost an audiophiles problem with airplay because for the amount of things it does it’s remarkably stable and well supported. It just doesn’t do the one damned thing we want it to do!
True. Kind of like Spotify dragging their feet on lossless… neither are exactly losing money over it - maybe some money left on the table - but no real loss for either. Plenty of folks are fine with Bluetooth in its current state and lesser quality sounding headphones outsell the good gear by a fairly large margin.

I’d venture to guess more homes have a smart speaker than a proper hifi rig (even of low quality department store all in one variety). I’d still venture that most folks best stereo equipment is in their car.

Mine updated two days ago and seems to be fine. Are you iOS or android? (iOS here)
