The Dark Side; Digital audio equipment recommendations and setup.

Oh strange. The connect menu drop down shows just Waze and Facebook even when at home on the wifi. But the little speaker icon on the song playing shows that I can connect. Kinda odd but okay.

Maybe there is a setting you need to turn on in the node to enable it?

When you go to that setting it should show the node with the words tidal connect below the device name.

As I recall the tidal app was its own sort of whonky.

I didn’t like it. And connect was randomly playing things at lower bit and sample rates than using it through the streamer app which seemed wrong. So I used it mainly through the streamer interface but that is really poor on my streaming box.

So, I get this Q connect sign when I change the volume in the Qobuz app when I’m connected to my Chromecast puck. Is this not true “connect”, then? Whatever that is.

@Mather - less than a month into my journey with Qobuz and so far so good. A handful of catalogue gaps, but a few things are in that aren’t on Spotify. I’m noticing a definite improvement on Spotify, and it’s held up ok commuting as well. The Samsung TV app is a bit of a mess, though.Definitely worth trialing.

Thanks for the review. Yeah I think I might do a trial, I'm really not too picky with this I just need high res that I can listen to offline due to subway rides to and from work. I know it can do it, but can it do it... WELL. I mean Tidal can't do it very well, although it's getting better recently... so it doesn't have much competition at this point.

Qobuz haven’t announced anything and have previously said it’s in the pipeline but still being tested so that’s interesting!

It does have its quirks: for some reason it’s not playing my current album as a playlist - it’s currently stopping at the end of each track.
For about two years every time an album finished if there was nothing following in the playlist my Tidal app would freeze up and crash, every, single, time.
