Joking aside, I just use my iPhone as the remote for whatever streaming software I’m using. We all know I’m lazy so I’m not sure what I would actually use the touch screen for.

Same, or iPad Air. I do worry that a screen is another thing to fail too.

The problem is Apple Music in hi res through a stereo and I don’t want to give it up because it just works on the phone and through the car in a way all the others don’t.
 
Ah yes. I use Tidal which has native app in the Tesla so that works well for me. Changing the car in the summer, likely not a Tesla so that will then change to using CarPlay.

Yes CarPlay is pretty damn brilliant and Apple Music just works through it. Having everything through Siri is just great in terms of keeping your eyes on the road driving through a city!
 
I decided to pull a few Coronas and get some more seat time with the Fosi today.
Playing something equal to hear against vinyl I already own.
The hi res Marquee Moon can't match the KG vinyl cut but I tell you it's pretty dang nice.

I especially like feeding the DAC into the tube chain.
There's a polished tone, which takes out a lot of the digital bite but still keeps it musical.

It's a little weird they don't disclose the source of the files.
yea--they sound really good though for the most part. you can download high res samples on their site. you just have to be mindful of what they did for each release. Some are transfers from vinyl, others are pure DSD transfers from tapes. others are transferred from tape but then edited to fix some kind of issues.

my guess is that they use commercially available reel to reels that are transferred to DSD. they detail the transfer process, just not what the sources are. the fact that they are in Canada and don't always use the proper album artwork makes me think they are doing some kinda public domain switcheroo.

Usually under the recording info, they put what it was sourced from. They aren't specific about the release that it was sourced from but I would imagine this has to be somewhat above board or it would've already been shut down by Sony. This is the one for Kind of Blue.

Everything is available from the highest res/whatever format down. So something available in native DSD is also available in other formats for less $, and if you buy the highest, the purchase includes all the formats below.
