The football thread RenegadeMonster is looking for: NFL talk

Chiefs are screwed if Mahomes is out against the Bills. I’m still not sure how he got concussed, it didn’t look like he actually got hit in the head. Maybe got choked out as his neck got folded over.

Andy Reid with probably the gutsiest call I’ve ever seen him make with that 4th & short call at midfield with their backup QB.

If Odell can come back as a major weapon and if they can shore up the D a bit, the Browns are gonna be a problem for years with Stefanski.

certainly looked like the cleveland tackler making the hit took a more significant blow to the head than mahomes there. head injuries are weird, man.

i couldn't believe it. luckily for them it worked. lulled cleveland and probably every single person watching (including romo) into thinking no play. would be interested in seeing chief's fans' heart rate readings when the ball was snapped.

They’ve run that play (Qb sprint out pass to tyreek) a few times this year in similar situations to pick up a first down to finish a game. But obviously always with Mahomes. And never in as high stakes of a situation as this.

When they lined up, I knew they were going for it because they weren’t running all these crazy shifts or hard counts that usually happen if you’re just trying draw them offsides. But my heart rate was definitely going crazy 😂

100%.I only root for University of Ohio if they are going up against like The SEC champion. Outside of that fuck em. I am also, with you on the Fab 5. They are the reason that I will forever hate Eric Montross
I 100% always root for LSU and whoever is playing Bama.

Also, I'm crying now:

But those games mattered, even if the vast majority of them ended up in a loss. Because, while the Gulf Coast was spending six days a week picking up the remains of their homes and businesses, for a few hours on a Sunday, that didn't matter. The damn Saints were playing. They weren't playing well. And who could've expected them to? The region was their home, too. But they were playing and Saints fans caught in the eye of the storm had something to look forward to, had something to smile about, when everything else felt lost.

Pictures were printed every Monday of Gulf Coast residents watching the games inside of the bare frames of homes that were no longer whole. Crawfish boils were happening on gameday in front of piles of rubble that used to be businesses. Second lines and brass music filled the air that, the other six days of the week, rung deafeningly loud with the sound of silence and sorrow.

The Saints, which felt less like a football team and more like a family, were all they had. And for a few hours a week, all of the anger and rage and despair and sadness could be channeled into being a fan. It was, if nothing else, therapeutic. The Saints were there for us when it felt like everyone else had failed us.

The Saints were ours again. The 'Dome was never less than capacity. Drew Brees, Marques Colston, Reggie Bush, Deuce McAllister, Devery Henderson, and the rest of the squad was special, and we knew it. Tom Benson backed away from his threats to move the team. The NFL stopped floating the LA Saints and the San Antonio Saints and the Oklahoma City Saints.

And after years of heartbreak and pain, after rebuilding both a city and a team, Drew Brees helped the Saints achieve what had only been a long-shot dream for Saints fans for 40+ years: he won a Super Bowl.

Well, Dan Campbell's presser was exciting. If he can bring that enthusiasm and energy to the practice field and then the actual field on game day, and of course if it translates well to the team, maybe the Lions can turn into something. I've seen too many rebuilds and new coaches to get too excited, but this seems like a solid hire.

Saints fans - thoughts on Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn? (who was just hired as the Lions DC)

Half the town around here (and most sports radio hosts) say that getting rid of Stafford is the only way to build this team. I don't agree, I still don't think he's had a good enough team and/or coach to help him succeed. But I can agree - zero playoff wins in 12 years is pretty damning.

I have heard nothing but praise about the guy and if nothing else it should be good for the morale of the organization. The biggest thing will be who he hires as OC and DC as he’s never been more than a position coach but if (and with the Lions that “if” is big) they can get the right pieces in place I think he could be successful.

It definitely wears me out, all this starting over. But Quinn and Patricia had to go, it wasn't working at all.

This dude's definitely punting from the opponent's 40 on 4th and 2.

Lebowski would never
I don't know much about his interim head coaching experience in Miami, is that something he did? I'm hoping for hope over here...but social media is ripping this guy apart.
