The Browns cannot get out of their own way, despite their recent influx of young talent. It feels like they SHOULD be up by two scores by the game's end, but so many miscues and mistakes (personal foul count is ridiculous).
 
Oof. I haven’t seen Cam Newton play that bad ever. Dude looked completely defeated a majority of that game, any one else catch it?

It didn't help that McCaffrey had 16 attempts for 37 yds. Cam threw it 51 times, and didn't even surpass a 50% completion rate.

What really befuddled me was that Carolina was on a 4th and inches situation, and they elected to run a gadget play with McCaffrey to the sideline. Why not just try a QB sneak, especially with one of the better QBs to do it with?

I am thinking that Cam's shoulder injury is more worrisome than we know.
 
Now that NFL week 2 is over, I have some thoughts/questions:

  1. New England is the undisputed juggernaut right now. 76 pts scored and only 3 pts allowed. It's not even that their offense is scary (it still is), but their defense might just be what makes them unbeatable. Stephon Gilmore is still playing like a top 3 CB, and their pass rush is unreal.

  2. Miami is the undisputed worst team in football. 10 pts scored and 102 pts allowed (!!). I just read the 53 man roster and was at a loss for finding positives (just traded a young CB to the Steelers). Why aren't they starting Rosen the rest of this year to see what they have in him?

  3. Still some really bad officiating costing momentum shifting for some teams. Sorry @Teeeee, @nolalady, and other NOLA fans, in particular.

  4. Not sold on the Browns yet since their horrendous week 1 at home and playing possibly the second worst team in football on Monday. Still lots of time to build chemistry, though.

  5. In all honesty, we know that the AFC is locked up. With the injury to Brees, what NFC teams have a chance to dethrone the defending SB champs? I'm thinking that some upstart team that is under the radar has a shot...Seattle maybe?

EDIT: I might make a 3-5 point writeup at the end of each week (Tuesday or Wednesday). What do you guys think? I'll stop if I'm being annoying lol

5. As a Niners fan, it pains me to say the Seahawks (ugh) Cowboys (gross) and Rams (meh) all look pretty damn good. Hoping we don't disappoint in our home opener and start 3-0 going into an early bye week.

I totally forgot about SF. Sorry about that, @tvham! My mom is both an SF fan (OAK is her 2nd team), so I'm happy for her. Their defense has played solid in both games and honestly have a well-rounded roster. Wondering how the offensive line will fare with Staley sidelined for about half the season.

Despite me being a Portlandian, I'm actually a Bengals fan lol. Goddamn you guys made us look like the worst team on Sunday (except for the Dolphins). Former Oregon State guy here, and loved Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh both in college and the NFL.

no idea about the Browns. id be pleased with a winning record. not sure whats there to be sold on really.
obviously there was hype from everywhere before the season, but the questions about O line, linbeackers , maturity and a rookie HC were there.
im still excited about the season, no matter what happened in the two games. its still so much better than anything in recent years.

they have a tough stretch coming up with Rams, Ravens , Niners and Seahawks. they might just win one of those. Start 2-4 . the second half of the schedule looks way more promosing and it depends on the character of the team having a 2-5 start and reacting to that.
theres so much that can happen until then, starting QBs seem to be dropping like flies right now.

If the Saints can settle down and rally behind Teddy, they still have a chance. The team is stacked as hell. And the NFC south is bad this year. Carolina looks lost, Tampa is no better and Atlanta is meh. If they can win half of the games while Brees is out, then he comes in and wins 3/4 of the games, they can win the NFC south and be dangerous into the playoffs. (And then lose for the umpteenth time in the NFC championship game because the refs clearly hate them). We'll see how it shakes out but the weakness of the NFC South is the saving grace for the Saints this year.
