The football thread RenegadeMonster is looking for: NFL talk

As a Cowboys fan, I rest easy with the knowledge that who the head coach is won't matter as long as Jerry Jones still has his hands on the franchise. Bill Parcells was the only coach with enough skins to tell Jerry to back off and let him work and it almost paid off. Almost 20 years later and it's a constant rinse and repeat cycle year after year. The names change at QB and head coach but the results will always be the same as long as Jerry Jones is alive. I hate to be dark but it's as simple as that to me.

You can seek solace in the fact as long as Dan Snyder exists Jerry Jones won’t be the worst owner in the NFL (or even the NFC East). He might be the worst GM though.

reminds me that im probably giving the NFL and pro sports a break for a season at least, im just so sick of it. should have done it when the whole Kaepernick saga began. all this Rodgers crap this season , the Chicago Blackhawks shit ... it just goes on and on...

No fault in that. Sports can be pretty seedy and if all the extra BS is effecting your enjoyment then it’s probably a good idea to take a break. It’s’ supposed to be a pastime after all.

It was a good run. A very good run.
Gonna miss my buddy. Won't miss my mom and wife yelling "Sexy lips!" whenever he would appear on screen though, apparently that man is popular w the ladies. Wondering if they'll give Dennis Allen a shot at Head Coach, he put on quite a clinic against the bucs

Edit: now that i think about it I will very much miss the "sexy lips!" comments

He's still under contract in NOLA until 2024. The smartest thing for us to do is let him leave but have him remain under contract so that we don't have to play against him (and this is why I doubt the Saints organization will let him break the contract). From what I understand, he's looking for a network gig.
Ugh I might be wrong. I don’t see how they would let him out of the contract early so he could coach against us.

I think I am okay with this. Who he picks for OC will be supremely important but as long as the Bears don’t have to play the Jags we should be alright.
Rumors are that Caldwell is in the mix. What do you think if that's the hire?
(Some) Detroit people are saying "The Bears will beat us with the coach we should have kept and the QB we should have drafted."

Edit: But I see that it looks like Eberflus is more than a rumor

Yeah, it’s official. I woulda been alright with Caldwell too (Anybody but Quinn) I doubt Caldwell would be interested as OC but I would be good with that.

This will make Aaron Rodgers to Broncos potential move seem more likely IMO, if Rodgers goes to the AFC West. That division might have the strongest stable of QBs in the league.

Rumor around here is it's Kevin Petullo, the Eagles passing game coordinator. Can't say I know too much about him. The passing game wasn't great but the Eagles changed their entire offense in the middle of the season to play to their strengths which I think is a positive sign.
