The National - Cherry Tree Club

I’ve had to research potential promo items in my past work roles and low-cost brandable merch gets pretty bleak once you pass the basics like shirts, beanies, and hats. If they don’t want to repeat big items and it needs to ship semi-flat (RIP Bluetooth pill speakers and wireless chargers), their options are like a USB drive, hand sanitizer, chip clips, and the stationary they chose for this package.

In other words, give me a new National shirt or hat every year and maybe an enamel pin. I’m ok with no stickers/coasters. I’d rather they spend $ on 1 decent item then the same amount on 5 items that get put in my drawer and sit there.
I agree!

Scarf, hat, even last year with the art print. It felt thought out. This one just feels cheap. The scarf or hat could easily be $20 at the merch booth and that’s $20 + $30 for the record = $50 membership. I’d rather they ask for our sizes and then give out a custom shirt for members only or maybe some socks or idk something else a little more unique.

Just catching up here and agree with what the general consensus seems to be.

Compared with previous years it seems really cheap, a bundle of items that don't really match up to previous years. The patch is the only bit that seems like a quality product to me. I get that they maybe don't want to double up on items but I would much prefer a different poster, hat, etc each year.

or go real big since we're a year behind at this point and do something signed by the band......

My Port Chester CT variant poster arrived yesterday - I had an off the rack frame sitting around, so I put in in that temporarily. It's a beautiful print, and it's a hometown show for me so I'm happy about having it!

As much as I was unimpressed with the Pittsburgh poster, I think I may order the CT variant (it's not sold out as of yet) A friend got it and said it's textured - almost has a collage feel to it. The colors are far better than the show print as well.

---> I really don't need more posters that will prob sit in my profolio unframed for years if not forever

Package 2 (annual vinyl) is expected to ship in mid-to-late June 2023. Fixed it for you.
So Volume 4 which was intended to be for Calendar Year 2021 wouldn't be coming until 2023. I know it's a joke, but they are so far behind on getting these packages together. I would just pause a year and get up to caught up if I were them.

Eh I'd just go big one year or do a membership discount. Not their fault on their end

Don't forget those downloads!

2021 was my first year joining, and it has been a bit...undewhelming. The club feels like an afterthought, rather than a community for dedicated fans. I went ahead and canceled for 2022, so I'm sure next year will be great...
It’s unfortunate that The National are one of my all time favorite bands otherwise I’d probably have cancelled a while ago too

Same and $50 is still worth it for me. It will happen when it happens I have plenty of albums to spin in the mean time.
yup the album itself will be worth the $50, knowing how much they go for on Discogs, plus the goodies are a bonus. It'll come when it comes, but it's just annoying that it takes so long. My leash wouldn't be so long if I didn't like them so much.

The price of membership is more than worth the vinyl alone. The stickers etc are cute, but honestly, I don't care much about them. I did really like the setlist book - haven't yet filled it in - but that's because it doesn't have enough pages for my attended shows.

Past year's vinyl gifts have been amazing - last year's especially as I was at that Stubb's Austin show. I did score presale tix for shows I wanted this year, sadly had to skip a couple of them for personal reasons and eat the money, but I saw them at The Cap in Port Chester, NY, which is just 2 miles or so from where I was born and raised.

I have no complaints, and will happily renew in April when my membership expires. I do expect next year will be a better year for members of CT. New album coming, definitely more shows, and hopefully Homecoming 2.0.

Absolutely, other than they are a year behind on delivering vinyl, I have no complaints. I expect them to raise the price of Cherry Tree at some point soon to be honest.

I got to go to a soundcheck in St. Augustine thanks to Cherry Tree. That was before the club really took off in membership, and it prob could never happen now, or at least not in populous metro areas, but damn, that was pretty freaking special.
