The National

Listened in full again today, spun the deluxe, and hit me harder than it has all these previous times. I have no doubt that this is my favorite album of the year so far (which I mean, I expected considering how massive a National fan I am). But now like everything is working for me, and it's further revealing itself. I love it when that happens.

I have to agree. I’m a huge National fan, and they can pretty much do no wrong in my eyes, but it still took a few listens for me to really appreciate this album. I can’t wait to see it performed live in a month!

The definition of frustration is bringing home your triple deluxe LP and not being able to play it because your family is watching The Voice...
😩😩😩
The greatest part of the flat we moved into 4 years ago is separate spaces for the TV and the hifi. Before, it was like a battle - as soon as the credits started up on TV I was lowering the needle on to my record and vice-versa. We have a living room in the cellar for TV now and domestic harmony is preserved - as long as I don't crank up Led Zeppelin to 11...

My dream of a vinyl man cave remains, I just need to keep repeating my mantra "I will get my man cave, I will get my man cave, I will get my man cave..."

So I'm on like day two or three of listening to The National. Never heard their music before that. I've listened to several albums and I'm blown away. This shit is awesome.

Looked up that Cherry Tree gang. Is it worth it - $50 for the club seems a lot?
Essentially you are pre-paying for an exclusive record or gift + goodies that most likely come up to more than $50. Plus you get presale benefits and member-only items in the store. So yeah, it's pretty worth it.

I mean, basically the price gives you two good things: early access to ticket sales and the annual exclusive vinyl. Signing up for Cherry Tree is the only way to get that exclusive vinyl at the end of the year (unless you want to pay over $100 for it on Discogs). So, for that reason alone, I'd say it's worth it.

Other than that, you get access to a member's store that has additional merch items (like a lot of exclusive show posters), but that's not for everyone. There's not much else the membership gets you, but I'm still holding out hope that they do some cooler things in the future.
