The Official Needles and Grooves 1001 Album Generator Project (aka Preachin’ about the Preachers if today’s selection sucks)

If anyone tells you that this is the best Animal Collective record, that's the moment you know they are an RYM/AOTY syncophant. No exceptions.
Still an enjoyable record. I dumped off all of my AnCo records this year; no regrets.

Rating: 3/5 [Good]
Which is your fave? Mine rank as follows:

Strawberry Jam > Feels > MPP > Sung Tongs

I really enjoy them all though, and if you were to include some Panda Bear solo stuff you end up with quite an excellent run of 00s indie rock records.

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion

I used to really love this album but haven't listened to it in a while. I still really enjoyed listening to it but I think some of it's luster has worn off over the years. Some great tracks. The middle of "Brother Sport" is still annoying as hell. 4/5

God...dammit...TLK.

1) Spirit They've Gone Spirit They've Vanished
2) Here Comes the Indian
3) Feels
4) Strawberry Jam
5) Campfire Songs

The rest are not relevant to my interests.

Right on. Their earlier stuff is more ambient acoustic primitivism, I enjoy that too but ultimately I am an indie rock guy first so I tend to prefer the stuff the falls closer to defined song structure but those early albums are excellent vibes too.

Slipknot - All Hope is Gone

I understand the appeal, these guys grew up in the cornfields of Iowa I grew up in the cornfields of Illinois. They were edgy and angry and there were a bunch of them and they would expel numerous bodily fluids on stage, it was shocking.

They were a bit too late to really be my thing. The late 90s NüMetal schtick isn’t something that spoke to me. By the end of High School beginning of college I had moved beyond this sort of thing. They were still more entertaining than most of the genre at the time and some of the singles were alright but I definitely wasn’t listening to Slipknot in 2008 and haven’t had much desire to listen to anything since probably Iowa not that I think it would be terrible so much as I think it would be a bit boring.
