Day 24 - What’s On the Inside That Counts

This is my copy of Godspeed You Black Emperor's F#A#oo.

Nevermind the embossing and the glued-on print, the interior of the album includes an envelope with:

- a locomotive etching (black on green)
- a credit sheet (black on grey)
- a handbill "Repent" (black on light blue)
- a blueprint of "faulty schematics for ruined machine"
- a Canadian 1 cent coin flattened by a train

And, if that's not enough, the record ITSELF has a lock groove at the end of Side 2 featuring the notes F# and A#... until you pull the needle off. Thus the album title.

It is also the only album I could think of to ease me back into reality before playing the first Whitehouse album I ever owned... and, if you know who Whitehouse are, you know why that's necessary.

Sorry for the double post but in retrospect I didn't feel the record as an insert technically fit the day's theme. Plus, this is a much more interesting insert I found lurking in this used 1970 pressing...

recorded in new orleans, which is also where shannon hoon departed this mortal coil a few weeks after its release. the album’s opening is distinctly new orleans.



I'm entering a frame bombarded by indecision
Where a man like me can easily let the day get out of control
Down this far in the quarter

But if I can leave with a little bit of explanation
