The Super Thread - All Things Marvel/DC/Etc

Not a doubt in my mind he's done better than Snyder
I'm probably the only person in this thread who sees any kind of merit in Snyder's work and would attempt to defend Man of Steel, but even with that being said, I'm perfectly fine with the Snyderverse dying in order for Gunn to take over. The Guardians of the Galaxy movies are far and away my favorite MCU projects of the last decade and he's given me no reason to believe he won't deliver on this as well. The marketing so far gives me hope that the overall tone will be sincere rather than sarcastic and I'm here for it. It feels nice to have some optimism for a superhero movie again.

I'm not a full on Snyder hater. I've enjoyed several of his films for what they are, but the DC stuff was the least captivating of his output, imo. A big part of that was a cast that had very little on screen chemistry. How much of that was him or the studio execs is hard to know.

I need to rewatch Peacemaker, been a bit. Maybe I'll do that before I start Creature Commandos.
I love Peacemaker. Definitely my favorite DC thing that's come out beyond animated stuff. it's so weird how DC animated stuff is fantastic and the live action stuff is meh and it's the reverse for Marvel, generally.

Really hope they do another season. Cena was hilarious in that role.

I really enjoyed Watchmen and thought it was (mostly) respectful of the Graphic Novel. Well cast and acted.

They are, it just finished filming. I don't think it comes out for a bit.

Edited to add - August 2025 is when the season starts.

I don't even think I made it through more than 10 minutes of Watchmen or Man of Steel. I watched Yawn of Justice in its entirety only because I paid $17 to be there but, in hindsight, I should have left. And I still want my money back all these years later.

I actually really liked Watchmen too. Despite how much it got dragged, I've watched it several times and loved what he did with music in the film. The book is obviously better, and I'm curious to watch the new animated ones they're doing, but I liked it, especially with a lesser known cast.

Bummer how long they're making us wait for the next season!

I am with you. I still have a hard time understanding how movies that are essentially giant action spectacles could be such a bore. I hate the over reliance on CGI in blockbusters but at least for the most part, when Disney does it with Star Wars and the MCU there is usually a bit of a sugar high attached that makes these films a good time.

Not of fan of the Watchmen movie but the HBO tv sequel was excellent.

I don't think Snyder's dismal colour pallette helped matters

There is so much about that trailer that I like. Hoult as Lex, reminds me of his character in The Menu. Guy Gardner being comic appropriate. The shot where he saves the little girl from the helium tanks. The shot of him kissing Lois in mid-air. Supposedly this drops you into the action and is not an origin retelling. That's smart. Similar to what they did with Tom Holland's Spiderman.
